Chris Perkins teasers from Comicpalooza in Houston

Chris Perkins wasn't too clear on that. He made it seem that they would be trying out a few different formats, to see which one worked the best in actual play.

Chris Perkins teasers from Comicpalooza in Houston

I agree. Ever since the loss of Texacon back in the late 80's early 90's, Houston has had a dearth of big cons. Without Owlcon and Comicpalooza, I'd never get from behind the shield and play a PC.

Chris Perkins teasers from Comicpalooza in Houston

I remember something else. Chris said that they are going to be trying out new formatting in adventure layouts. He said that they are going to try something more cohesive then the delve format. Reduce page flipping and all the info needed in one place. Sent from my LS670 using Tapatalk

Chris Perkins teasers from Comicpalooza in Houston

Sort of. It was Revenge of the Giants, but I think it wasn't a conversion but more of a thematic step-child.

Chris Perkins teasers from Comicpalooza in Houston

I attended the Chris Perking Preview at Comicpalooza in Houston over the weekend, and he dropped the following bits about upcoming content for Dungeon mag. The G1-3 series is getting a 4e conversion, and a fourth module will be added that focuses on stone giants. Also, ToEE will get a 4e...

Dragon 397: Letters To The Editor Up

I can see that given that Essentials seems to be trying to winnow down the total number of "base" classes, and upping the number of sub-classes, like 2E did in a way. Given the fluff of the class though, I wish that the runepriest was a leader build for the invoker rather than the cleric. A...

Dragon 397: Letters To The Editor Up

I disagree also. Information like this needs to be front and center. It needs to be easily found and seen, not buried in the messageboards. Honestly, how are these articles any different from Scale Mail, From the Editor, and Sage Advice articles that used to be in the old print versions. Print...

D&D 4E [4E Players, mainly] Ever thought of defecting to Pathfinder?

I have the first 3 AP from Paizo. While they do have nice production values, there are way too many assumptions made in the path's themselves that continually turn me off. I really want to convert them to 4e, as I think quite a few of the encounters would work better in that system. Oh well. On...

D&D 4E [4E Players, mainly] Ever thought of defecting to Pathfinder?

Best? I don't know. But it's free, though it does use Excel, since all it is is a macro'ed workbook.

D&D 4E [4E Players, mainly] Ever thought of defecting to Pathfinder?

I'm my group's DM, and we are running 4e. We're coming on to a break in our campaign, so one of my players expressed an interest in running a game using PF. Since the other player interested in DM'ing is tied up running Encounters, we all said sure. So I went to the PF srd online, and started...

Essentials Thief can't take Trap Master?

This is correct, since the power is tied to the warlocks pact, which is a class feature and cannot be retrained. The same applies to a thief. Slip from the grasp is a class feature for the thief and so cannot be swapped in any fashion. Since it does have a level associated with it, the rogue...

you know..I like Robert Schwalb's stuff, but lately it seems like the majority of the articles produced are from his fertile mind. Maybe it's just a perception thing.

    Ampersand: 2011 releases officially gutted

but how is a class that is presented in a physical book and different than a full class build presented in a fashion like the Executioner assassin? Each one of those classes could be broken out of the PHB and portrayed in DDi just as well, and all the fluff associated with the Psionic Power...

    Ampersand: 2011 releases officially gutted

No a simple e-reader would not do most of these things. Most are designed and intended for lay people, not tech fiends. More advanced readers with proper OS's could easy do all these things. Full offline capability is already there, and the files are stored locally once you purchase them, and...

    Ampersand: 2011 releases officially gutted

I concur w/ Zaukrie. While I can read Dragon and Dungeon mags on the nookcolor (thank goodness for landscape orientation capability), it's not 100% for displaying pdfs. It doesn't use Adobe reader for android, but rather Quickoffice. While I thought of rooting the darn thing, I'm waiting on...

    Ampersand: 2011 releases officially gutted

I don't see e-readers as an obsolete piece of technology, anymore than a calculator is obsolete. Sure tablets and pc's can do more, with the right apps, but sometimes you want something that does one thing, and one thing well. Basic e-readers like the Kindle and regular Nook offer the storage...

    Ampersand: 2011 releases officially gutted

Where as I bought the nookcolor so I can read my pdfs in addition to it's normal e-reader capablilties. I'm nearly a pure digital DM. I use Masterplan for all my adventure work. I find that my netbook takes up less space, and is less obtrusive than a standard GM screen, module/adventure notes...
