Level Up (A5E) Were the Planetouched a design trap?

In that specific case maybe (I'd argue that you could still mix the traits to have a half and half heritage with guidance cantrip and fire resistance, for example), but my point was that you can pick gifts from other heritages to make a unique character that might better support the theme you...

Level Up (A5E) Were the Planetouched a design trap?

I think it's also worth mentioning that mixed heritages are an option presented in the AG, so as long as the GM approves, there's nothing to stop you from mixing and matching to make a more thematically-appropriate heritage that's still technically within RAW.

Gate Pass Gazette Gate Pass Gazette #3 Introduces The Spiderfolk!

Just a small issue, on page 6 (well, page 7 of the PDF but page 6 as numbered) under the darkvision section there is a typo, it says dsarkness instead of darkness.

Playtest (A5E) Voidrunner’s Codex Playtest: Scientist

The handy drone feature says to "see table" for stats, but I'm not finding any such table anywhere in the document. Also, and maybe this is me nitpicking, but some of the features I can't really evaluate because they refer to Voidrunner-specific things that haven't, AFAIK, been released...

Blog (A5E) Level Up: Now on FOUNDRY VTT!

I actually don't think it's that farfetched to think WotC will have their own VTT at some point. While I don't disagree with your rationale as to why they might not, at the same time, D&D Beyond already has a character builder, combat tracker, and has said that they intend to make a map system...

Blog (A5E) Level Up: Now on FOUNDRY VTT!

I think for me, I'm not terribly concerned about getting 5e modules that enhance functionality working in Level Up, it's more about the ones that provide content. For example, we backed a number of projects that add monsters, class options, etc and provided 5e-compatible modules for Foundry 5o...

Gate Pass Gazette Gate Pass Gazette Issue #1 Is Here!

Question about the Revoker Herald. I think it's a cool enough subclass, but the "choose your fate" feature seems kinda pointless to me. Per the AG, you can change your destiny whenever you level up anyway, so the only thing this changes is that if your DM agrees, you can carry over the...

Level Up (A5E) Can Mending Restore a Damaged Item?

That is more or less my thoughts. Mending can fix the break (if it's literally broken in a way that qualifies), but you still have to maintain it to make it useful. Really, for me the question is if it goes from broken to only damaged as a result.

Level Up (A5E) Can Mending Restore a Damaged Item?

It's all good, I think I mistakenly assumed you were one of the designers and were being a Crawford about it :P Of course, my own games can always rule however we want, so my feedback is only here for future consideration/clarity. I appreciate that there's at least someone involved in the...

Level Up (A5E) Can Mending Restore a Damaged Item?

I am not sure how much more clear I can be... Why is there an arbitrary distinction between things that are not adventuring gear (tables, clothes, etc) and things that are (weapons, armor, shields)? As you say, what it says is: "You repair a single rip or break in the target object (for example...

Level Up (A5E) Can Mending Restore a Damaged Item?

I did actually ask several... But to be extra clear: Is the intent that adventuring gear should arbitrarily follow different rules for repair than other items, as would be the case in the example I provided? As Micah suggested, if that's not the case, should mending be able to move an item from...

Level Up (A5E) Can Mending Restore a Damaged Item?

So this actually leaves me with a few extra questions. I get the reasoning behind doing it that way, i.e. not wanting us to cheat our way past a rule, and that's fine from a game mechanics standpoint, but it begs the question of what's so special about equipment vs other items? By that, I mean...

Level Up (A5E) Can Mending Restore a Damaged Item?

My personal feeling is not only yes, it can fix them, but also that that's probably intentional so that mending has some real weight in LU. Sure, it was always useful for fixing tables or doors or whatever, but now it has real, practical utility.

Gate Pass Gazette What is the intention of the Gate Pass Gazette?

We are agreeing :) That was precisely my point, they went with quantity over quality. Lots of subclasses, maybe two of which are mechanically viable and none of which are particularly interesting. That is why I like LU. Edit: Welp, I guess I am now patron #500. Let's do this.

See, that's the info I wanted to know. That gives me more confidence moving forward. Thanks!

Gate Pass Gazette What is the intention of the Gate Pass Gazette?

You don't want quality over quantity? Sure, if we can have both, I'm all for it, I just want to make sure that quality isn't sacrificed for quantity. For example, the sheer number of subclasses for some classes in O5e vs the number of them that people actually want to play is a pretty big...

Gate Pass Gazette What is the intention of the Gate Pass Gazette?

I'm simply saying that based on what I have seen so far, it felt rushed. There are many things that aren't very clear even now after your revisions and it really feels like more time would have helped. I'm not really trying to dwell on that, I've already addressed that in other threads, but I...

Gate Pass Gazette What is the intention of the Gate Pass Gazette?

For sure, but that just means your splitting your focus across multiple things at once and I'm not sure that's really any better. Quarterly releases would still give you more time to flesh things out, I imagine. As a case in point, the finalized capstone feature of the artificer wasn't even...

Gate Pass Gazette What is the intention of the Gate Pass Gazette?

And I don't just mean the obvious, which is to give us cool new options every month. What I mean is, is it supposed to be sort of like Unearthed Arcana where we get some mostly finished new material every month that will eventually be collected into proper sourcebooks or are they intended to be...

Gate Pass Gazette Artificer improvements: a revised homebrew approach

Yeah, I was just quoting them. But that kinda furthers my point. You'd be at max carry weight or above with 8 strength pretty easily, then.
