Malice of the Medusa (pt-1) [Manzanita judging]

Seeing Dane assume a combat-ready position, Reis jumps down the last few rungs and begins to scan the room for threats. Spot check: 15+5=20 If Reis can move again after climbing down the ladder, he will move two squares to the left.

Malice of the Medusa (pt-1) [Manzanita judging]

Reis follows Dane down, climbing with one hand and holding his rapier up with the other in order to see the ladder.

Malice of the Medusa (pt-1) [Manzanita judging]

Reis nods agreement. "Aye, I don't think we would want to fight in the dark in any case... you could try enchanting my rapier, since I can sheathe it when we're not in battle if necessary." Reis holds up the weapon, its edges glinting faintly.

Malice of the Medusa (pt-1) [Manzanita judging]

Reis looks down at the blackness through the trap door and shudders. "Midias, can you call on your god for light? If the spell needs an object, you should probably use something of mine or of Firebuilder's."

Malice of the Medusa (pt-1) [Manzanita judging]

Sorry for the long delay; I've been away on vacation. Looks like other people probably were as well. Maybe we can get this started back up soon? Anyways, I had thought that Midias and Dane would take 20 on the cellar and the attic while Victor and Reis searched the first and second floor (to...

Malice of the Medusa (pt-1) [Manzanita judging]

Reis sighs at Dane's stubbornness, watching him turn back and begin to search the first floor inch by inch, with painstaking care. "Well, if Dane's set on this, perhaps we should each search a different floor, take as much time and care as we can doing it, and then meet back on the first floor...

Malice of the Medusa (pt-1) [Manzanita judging]

Reis looks around in annoyance after searching the first floor. "Too many people around here to find anything useful... let's move on to the second floor. If we find nothing elsewhere, maybe we can come back and look again. I didn't see anything, though." He shrugs and waves his companions over...

Malice of the Medusa (pt-1) [Manzanita judging]

Reis nods in agreement. He is intent on his searching, and his eyes are lively with interest. "We have ourselves a puzzle all right. Let's see what we can find..." He moves on to the first floor, again looking for anything unusual, especially any trace of a hidden room or passage. 1d20+3=5...

Malice of the Medusa (pt-1) [Manzanita judging]

Following Midias' advice, Reis walks carefully around the grounds outside the hospice, trying to determine if there's anything that looks unusual, or might provide a clue as to how Aedan managed to slip out unseen. 1d20+3=19 Okay, will that do? Due to the difficulties of talking back and forth...

Malice of the Medusa (pt-1) [Manzanita judging]

Judging by our character sheets, Reis has the best search (+2 for int, +1 racial bonus). As far as I can tell, Viktor has +2 and Firebuilder has no modifier. Should I search, then, or should we maybe split up and do different floors?
  11. E

Malice of the Medusa (pt-1) [Manzanita judging]

Reis looks around at the others. "Seems to me that we should start with the room Aedan was staying in. If we find anything, there's a good chance it will be there. After that, I'm not sure - just check to make sure he's really not in the building, maybe..." He shrugs.

Malice of the Medusa (pt-1) [Manzanita judging]

Reis is ready for the next day as well.

Malice of the Medusa (pt-1) [Manzanita judging]

"Aye, I thought the clerics would permit us to walk around the hospice and see if we find anything. The one we met earlier seemed to take no issue with it." Reis' eyelids drop momentarily before he looks up again. "And in any case, we should find a place to sleep now, no? We can talk more...

Malice of the Medusa (pt-1) [Manzanita judging]

Reis shrugs. "Seems fair to me." He yawns again and shifts in his chair. "I think we might as well go back to the hospice in the morning and see if there's anything to find." He stops and waits for the others to respond.

Malice of the Medusa (pt-1) [Manzanita judging]

Reis looks up curiously. "What do you mean by Aedan's two pets? We don't know anything about that." He lifts his mug and peers at its contents for a moment before taking a sip.

Malice of the Medusa (pt-1) [Manzanita judging]

Reis sits down lightly, leaning his rapier against the side of the chair. He then yawns, leans back in his chair, and waits for a response.

Malice of the Medusa (pt-1) [Manzanita judging]

Reis watches the group approach, and quickly scans over them and their weapons, his half-elven eyes untroubled by the dim light. After a moment of surprise at the abrupt question, he addresses the swordsman politely, though he is not entirely successful in keeping a hint of apprehension from...

Malice of the Medusa (pt-1) [Manzanita judging]

Reis nods in agreement, seeing the good sense behind Dane's suggestion.
  19. E

Malice of the Medusa (pt-1) [Manzanita judging]

Reis listens to the argument going back and forth, shrugs, and turns to the others. "I think the cleric said it well. If Aedan has escaped thoroughly enough that nobody can figure out where he is, he is no doubt safer on his own. Remember, he claims somebody in the company would seek his death...

Malice of the Medusa (pt-1) [Manzanita judging]

Reis frowns slightly, unconsciously tapping his fingers on the table while he thinks. "You're probably right, Amik won't pay us if we return now. But he won't if we return later and without Aedan, either. And I'm not sure he would be safer with us - from what we've heard, it sounds like someone...
