It would take a true gaming rules revolution to make me change from BRP to another system.
They have to tread this path very carefully if they intend to remain in business after release.
I could point you to Forrester's lecture "Nyiming Ur Chaerectyr" (or words to that effect), but, unfortunately, it doesn't exist online anymore...
Trust me when I say it was funny... :D
I considered the Dervish, but all skill pre-reqs are cross-class for me, and I do have other skills I need to put at least a point into once in a while.
Never even considered asking for a "Glaive Weapon Master" adaptation of the EWM. Nice idea, and one he could probably go along with.
Mounted...
I thought about taking the exotic weapon master (I have Complete Warrior), but I decided against it, solely because I am not willing to spend any extra feats, and I am not going to take fighter levels just for feats.
My character currently has Dodge, Mobility and Weapon Focus (Glaive).
Baeleg...
So, I am now, for only the second time in more than 15 years of gaming, a player.
I was invited to play in my friend's Midnight campaign, and decided to go for a concept I rarely saw implemented by players in my own campaigns, that of the reach fighter.
My character is now a second-level...
I would point out Forrester's lecture "The Aelvish Problem" but, unfortunately, it no longer exists in a web page...
The "gentle"man above would be surprised to find such a "straight" assesment of his race in that lecture. :D
P.S.: Oh, he also could really use Forrester's first lecture...
SPOILERS
For precisely the same reason why they did not mention that Balian actually went to Hittin (Hattin) and fled in order not to be slaughtered.
Same reason why they changed one of the main characters, Raymond of Antioch, into Tiberias (played by Irons), which...
My list is:
1 - Call of Cthulhu BRP
2 - GURPS WW2
3 - Warhammer FRPG 1E
4 - Earthdawn
5 - Star Wars D6
6 - Finally, D&D, usually Birthright, Planescape or Dragonlance.
I rarely get to play anything these days though...
I am surprised no one has yet mentioned the powerful and brilliant writing by Jeff Grubb for the setting.
I believe he is among the best writers that have ever lent their skills to the RPG world, and one of the major factors in Al-Qadim's ability to put the players "inside" the world.
The Bronze Dragon, naturally... :D
And I am really happy for the fact that the Bronzey is the best-looking dragon in the MM too (the other good dragons look weird, and I really hate that crest extension thing they did with the silver)...
I have far more non-D20 books than D20 ones.
Between my 2E collection, which is pretty extensive, and games like GURPS, CoC (Chaosium), Star Wars (WEG), Warhammer FRPG, Earthdawn, my collection is about 1/4 D20, 3/4 Other.
I have fully stopped buying anything D20. In fact, I have stopped buying anything RPG.
I don't think I am losing interest in the hobby though, as I still want to buy some products that come out and catch my eye (like Sandstorm).
I am just not purchasing anymore, even if I really do like the...
I couldn't agree more.
I would point everyone in the direction of Forrester's lecture on elves, but it, unfortunately, does not exist anywhere on the net anymore (AFAIK).
This is a completely different matter AFAIC.
When I start a new campaign, I start everyone at 1st level.
When someone joins a running campaign, I get them to join at 1 level lower than the lowest level currently in the party.
