I don't come here often enough to have enough of an impression of enough of you, but I would have to say that I'd love to meet Col Pladoh because well, he's Gary Gygax and it would be amazing to meet such an important person of our hobby's history.
By the by, I haven't had time to read the...
To me, one of the most praiseworthy books that does not recieve enough praise is Necromancer's Tome of Horrors. I really like the old monsters, and I found the decision to turn the Cat Lord into a template actually works.
I voted for option 1.
If there are good original monsters, that's cool (ever since I got the 3e Monster Manual 2, I've had vague plans to create an adventure with a Moon Rat archvillan.), but what I really want is to be able to use my entire 1e/2e monster library without having to do any extra...
Good FLGSs
I seem to be in a minority, here, but I think my local gaming stores are all friendly and reasonable. In the Greater Grand Rapids (Michigan) area we have:
1) White Caps Comics, in a way, the only true gaming store in the area. That is to say, they have games for sale and they have...
I do not have children.
My couple of years older cousin has a kid who is now five.
I seem to recall a game night or two at the place in which they live when said child was more like one year old, maybe a bit more. In at least one instance, both he and his wife were gaming. They did have...
Okay I was running it under AD&D 2e rules, so character creation took a big chunk of the night, but my experience is that a typical party could take most of a session to clear one wilderness encounter (The Mad Hermit) and just find the caves. Then again the players weren't quick enough to catch...
That would be so cool. Better than Lords of Madness or Libris Mortis anyway.
More stuff that I would like.
Another one I like.
One that I personally would like to see, but that I think would not be too popular with others:
Spelljammer the good version with Giff and Giant Space Hamsters
What about Kobolds with blue skin who wear white hats and live in mushrooms and have one blonde-haired female per tribe and are led by bearded males in red hats?
Play 1e or 2e where the only buffs available are:
Shield, Armor, Enlarge, Strength, Haste, and Stone Skin
and maybe, depending on how you decide what is a buff,
Invisibility, Improved Invisibility, Continual Darkness, and Detect Magic.
What about the Warbeast template from Monster Manual 2?
It's 3.0, but it works well for what it was intended to do.
I think it could be cool.
I'd also want to see the rules for playing a non-awakened orangutan as a PC.
I'm trying to remember whether I read the first two or three Rose Estes Greyhawk novels. What I remember is that I liked them at the time.
I also loved the Endless Quest books, particularly Circus of Dread.
These were all characters that I at least created with the intention of playing and most of them have seen actual play:
Hrothgar Odinson (barbarian)
Stig Thothson (wizard)
Euclid Euler Pythagoras e pi i (geometer)
There's Antimony Arsenic Aluminum Selenium and Hydrogen and Oxygen and Nitrogen...
I DM, but my buying habits lean much more towards rulebooks than adventures.
I own notebooks in which I can write fluff text and NPC stats.
I own graph paper on which to plot out dungeons.
I've read enough fantasy fiction to know the tropes of the genre.
Therefore I run mostly a homebrew...
I am mostly away from my library, but the character sheet on the back of my basic D&D rulebook has the following save categories:
1) Poison or Death Ray
2) Magic Wand
3) Turn to Stone or Paralysis
4) Dragon Breath
5) Spells or Magic Staff
I know the AD&D categories are a bit different, but I...
As a player, I've never found anything wrong with a barbarian.
They are the perfect PC class from my perspective:
Best hit die
Good skill points and skill selection
Full BAB
Full Martial Weapon proficiency
Fast Movement
Uncanny Dodge
Rage
Damage Reduction
It's the perfect package.
I was contemplating starting one of my PCs rather old, but after looking at how it would negatively affect all my physical stats, I decided against it.
