Does it have to be an actual phoenix? Can you just give him something with bird stats and describe it as looking like a phoenix? 'Cause it'll be near impossible to lower the phoenix's CR that far without it losing pretty much all abilities.

I did take a look at the FR books. FYI, Favored Souls don't get domains, and you can't use domain spells as part of your spell list unless you have the domain.

For the Forgotten Realms fans: In big letters: "WWED?" In smaller letters underneath: "What Would Elminster Do?" And another (non-FR): In big letters: "WWMD?" In smaller letters underneath: "What Would Mordenkainen Do?" Maybe with a little wizard's staff next to them or something. :D

Oh, I realize that - but one of the other 2 PCs is some type of undead, so Harm/inflict spells work for him, and the other is a psion with the healing-type powers (don't recall what they are called off-hand), so I'll need healing mainly for just myself. ;)
