Not a single +1 weapon at 5th level? Ouch. But like Werk said, If you decide to throw them a bone perhaps a scroll or oil or two of magic weapon will help, but it still sounds rough. Let us know what happens.

Justicar, anyone? It makes a GREAT NPC bounty hunter, I had 1 nearly take out the entire party. However, it sucks as a PC class IMO, since there's no point doing subdual damage when everyone else in the party is doing lethal.

I'm pretty sure there's a Ranged Cleave in one of the Warcraft RPG books. Either the core one or the Alliance and Horde Compendium.
