D&D 5E (2024) Skeleton Entry and Stat Blocks from New Monster Manual

That's a pretty big error on their part, if so.

    D&D 5E (2024) Another D&D 2024 Monster Preview: The Kuo-Toa!

Immediate thoughts: Well, at least they kept the essential details from their previous lore. More than I honestly expected to see. 2014 provided a more interesting and inspirational read, though, with more adventure hooks. The random deity table is fun! Hope there's more tools like that for...

    D&D 5E (2024) Another D&D 2024 Monster Preview: The Kuo-Toa!

It's possible they magnified the existing advice from 2014 that the listed alignment is a default, not a requirement, and didn't think they needed the "usually" reminder. (Though I would have kept it, pretty harmless include IMHO.) But based on other design trends going into 2024, suspect you're...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Background and Origin Feat Article

Likewise, those were super helpful for the new-to-D&D players in our group (and still useful for those who weren't new). It looks like similarly new players for 2024 will have to rely on the single generic background description for role-playing prompts, which doesn't provide as much variety.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D species article

Yup, 2014 5e had it in the Monster Manual and DMG. That said, @Micah Sweet was talking about what he wants them to do.

D&D General Dark Horse Comics Signs Deal with Wizards of the Coast

The current Wizards policy for D&D is that all the "expressions" of D&D (comics, movies, etc.) are to be treated as their own thing - is that different for MTG comics and such? Again, not very familiar with how Wizards handles the MTG side. (FWIW, D&D canon was ostensibly unified across media...

D&D General Dark Horse Comics Signs Deal with Wizards of the Coast

FWIW, I thought Boom's Magic comics were rather good (having not bothered with previous Magic comics). Though I do admit to not tracking on all the Planeswalkers I was supposed to know, as someone who only knows MTG through the D&D crossovers.

Where do you watch your favorite anime?

Largely Netflix and Hulu (though I anticipate the latter will lose a lot of anime once Disney fully assimilates it), but I (and my friends/family) do have various series on DVD/Blu-Ray. Been meaning to add to that library, in fact, to avoid depending on streaming so much.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D species article

Huh. So they increased the speed of dwarves, gnomes, and halflings from 25 to 30 - removing a downside from being small size - but also increased the speed of goliaths from 30 to 35.

    D&D 5E (2024) New Jeremy Crawford Interviews

DDAL = D&D Adventurers League, not D&D Beyond (DDB). DDAL implemented a policy after MOTM came out requiring players to update any characters with a species revised in MOTM to use the MOTM version, not the Legacy version. Yep!

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D species article

While modern designers do seem rather fond of the Feywild, D&D being biased towards elves is a very old thing. Even under the original boxed set rules, elves are clearly the best of the species options (the single disadvantage is their class/level restrictions).

    D&D 5E (2024) New Jeremy Crawford Interviews

To be clear, that restriction only applied to D&D Adventurers League play, not D&D Beyond. That said... You can if you already purchased access to those options before they became Legacy Content; if you hadn't, they're just unavailable in DDB now. I assume something similar will be in effect...

    D&D 5E (2024) New Jeremy Crawford Interviews

There's zero doubt that 2024 versions will supersede the older versions in DDAL - they already did that when Monsters of the Multiverse came out, and people couldn't make characters with the older versions of species in the book.

D&D General DnD Version History Timeline

Very interesting chart! Some notes/questions: Pathfinder 2E was released in 2019, not 2014. What is "5E Expanded" from 2022? If you mean the "post-Tasha" era (where they began to adjust things like species and backgrounds with an eye towards 2024) that should probably start after Tasha's...

What are you reading in 2024?

Finished Secondhand: Travels in the New Global Garage Sale, by Adam Minter. If you've ever donated stuff to charity, and wondered where it might wind up, this book answers that question in great detail. (It's much more interesting than that might sound.) Also asks some hard questions about how...

D&D General Playing OD&D (1974) in the Year of the Dragon (2024)

Just discovered this thread through the "Similar Threads" for RPG Evolution: Teaching D&D to Scouts … Again. Having run my own OD&D one-shot (that became a two-shot), curious how yours went!

D&D 5E (2024) What is your oppinion of 5.24 so far?

Preferred the 2014 backgrounds. Preferred feats as optional (rather than something to override). Think they missed by not fully splitting species from culture (as other 5e-alikes have done). Disappointed at some of the cut species options. Not impressed by the class or spell changes, largely...

    AD&D 1E AD&D- Overpowered Magic Items

I assume if they can survive decapitation, their head could remain disguised! Could be a useful trick.

D&D 5E (2014) Quests From The Infinite Staircase

Oh? That's a surprise, I think that makes this the first time 5e has thrown out and affirmatively replaced Realms-specific lore (as opposed to making retcons, or advancing the Realms timeline to accommodate changes, or so forth). Generally that treatment had been reserved for the other settings.
