That's only true if the 2024 monster building rules are radically more complicated than the rules they put in the 2014 DMG, or the more accurate reverse-engineered rules others have put together.

Well, yes and no. The empyrean from the 2014 MM has slightly more lore than the version here. But they expanded the empyrean into a general category (with overview text) and added the iota as a brand new variant. The 2024 empyrean (category) also has an evocative quote, which the 2014 version...

So less lore, more variants, more emphasis on novel game mechanics. Sounds very familiar. The return of habitat and treasure information is a pleasant surprise, though.

Carrying over from the end of 2024, I'm actively reading Heroes of the Feywild for D&D 4e (I'd resolved to read one book from each edition in the anniversary year and technically achieved that) and Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles (my yearly classic).
