    Sacred Cows for any edition

Levels, classes and races are an absolute must. I really don't consider having six ability scores as essential at all - D&D not only had different numbers before, but I would outright prefer having a few more. There are many other mechanics, however, that I consider quasi-essential to D&D...

    It's Dark Sun

Indeed... that's why going back to the original set is a good decision.

    It's Dark Sun

Well, sure there will be some new 4E stuff, but so long as it is stuff that fits relatively seamlessly, than it's all good. For example, I can imagine Dragonborn (perhaps with some modifications) being renamed as Pterrans in Dark Sun (or perhaps as offspring of the sorcerer kings) - that would...

    It's Dark Sun

Having read the thread now, as well as the link (thanks Dausuul), it seems that my pessimism was rather hasty. If they really stay true to the original and won't try to shoehorn 4E concepts into the setting, than they won't ruin the setting. Heck, if they go back to the original boxed set as the...

    It's Dark Sun

I haven't read the thread apart from the first post announcing this news, but as a huge Dark Sun fan, I cannot help but feel saddened it is being revived in 4E, which I am not a fan of at all. The reason I care one way or another with respect to what settings make it to 4E is that once 5E or 6E...

    Stifling Innovation

I know nothing about WHFRPG, so I will refrain from commenting on that, but I think fans are far less opposed to mechanical innovation than what you seem to imply. It is just that different groups of fans would like the game to change in different directions. For example, I am not at all fond...

Pathfinder 1E [Pathfinder] Planning on switching to Pathfinder?

I certainly plan on buying the Pathfinder RPG. My games tend to have many house-rules and whether I will be applying them to s 3.5E base or a PFRPG-base will depend on what's more convenient (and in any case, I will probably steal some rules from the version I don't end up using, whether it is...

Pathfinder 1E Now that Pathfinder is out, is anyone giving their setting a try?

I don't really plan on giving it a try. I run my own campaign setting and don't plan to change that.

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder First Print Run Sold Out

This is true, but it would be a huge pity if a Pathfinder game did not use Pathfinder RPG rules. There is a substantial market for d20/3.5ish-style rule-based CRPGs (with the ruleset suitably adjusted for computer-based gameplay, of course) that would like to be serviced and I include myself in...

    That's a pretty awesome numerological theory. :)

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder First Print Run Sold Out

I have been hoping (and asking for ;) ) a Pathfinder computer game almost since the Pathfinder RPG project was started, so I am glad to hear that the prospect is now more realistic than before. :)

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder First Print Run Sold Out

Congratulations Paizo! I am glad that it is selling so well. Now get that second print ready quickly - being in Slovakia at the moment I will probably not manage to get my hold on a first-print book.

With all these powerful entities, things are not looking rosy for our heroes!

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Sneak Peeks (Old thread)

Well, I think it is nice to have alignment-based classes. Instead of freeing up the Paladin to all alignments, the other alignments might be better of getting their own unique classes tailored to themselves only and not merely derived from the Paladin archetype.

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Sneak Peeks (Old thread)

The new Paladin is awesome! :) I would say that he might well be on par with the spellcasters in terms of combat power.

It is a very nice update. :) BTW: Do we know what Sibud's token does?
