Great DM, crappy friend vs. good friend, crappy DM

There's a mantra amongst my friends: Life is too short for bad games. I'd say back Ted on this and stick with it. If he's the type that's open to learning the craft, you (as an experienced GM) could offer to work with him, and give him some pointers. If he (or you) have a DDI account, there...

    Reskinning Class Fluff

I just started playing in a friend's campaign based off of the Last Apprentice books by Joseph Delaney. He wanted someone to play the Spook class, which are essentially witch hunters and those who bind angry spirits. So we took the Avenger and changed its flavor. Instead of holding out a holy...

Class Idol Round 5: Choose the Final Four

Ah well. Since my beloved Warlock and others have fallen by the wayside, time to join the Fighter cause. They are my favorite flavor of defender, so I'm not terribly heartbroken.

    iPad

If someone makes an app that mimics the special medical coding diagrams ER's use, that would be awesome. I used to work in medical billing, and you would not believe the cost for those sheets. Anyhow... I'm not an Apple fanboi by any means, but this is good timing for me. I've been watching...

NC Game Day XXI - February 6th!

Hi Rel. Just checked in on this. Thanks for saving me a spot, but unfortunately I won't be able to make it due to work. =\ Free weekends have been few and far between recently and it doesn't look like it's going to change anytime soon. Once again, I appreciate the consideration. Maybe April...

Are the familiar rules in the Compendium?

Agreed. My tiny gelatinous cube is not listed. All I could find were the familiar feats.

    D&D World Cuisine...

Gregor, I just shot you a PM as well. I've always wanted to add cool cuisine ideas to my games, but it's a detail that falls by the wayside.

NC Game Day XXI - February 6th!

Thanks for the heads up Rel. Maybe I'll be lucky and eke my way into a game you run this time.

    Brainstorm pot-luck

I like the rampage the village idea on Halloween or some other festival day. If you have the first Pathfinder module for Rise of the Runelords, the goblins seem to have a lot of fun during that first set of encounters. You could start with sneaking in, planned objectives, then have the chaos...

(My Redding Players Stay Out) Tying P2 to Dead Gods

Sounds good, as I've always been a fan of Dead Gods. I have the 4e modules, but I haven't run the latter ones so I'm not as well-knowledged. I guess how much you include of that module depends on what you've done thus far. If you've already used cults of Orcus from the first 4e modules, then...

D&D 4E Running player commentary on PCat's 4E Campaign - Heroic tier (finished)

Have either of you tried colored rings or other items on the miniatures themselves for tracking? I picked this up watching the local RPGA group and it's been great for me. We've just taken the rings from various soda bottles and when a target is bloodied, marked, or gains a condition, on goes a...

    D&D 4E Running Commentary on Rel's 4e Campaign (Complete 8/2/10)

Guess I picked a good time to catch up on the thread. =) So what's next in the many campaigns of Rel, I wonder?

    Solo Adventure Scenario in Dungeon!

I'm going to take a stab at this tonight, probably with an Invoker. Did anyone enjoy the Choose Your Own Adventure books enough as a kid to try and write your own? It was much more difficult than expected, as I didn't have a computer back in the day. Now I might have the perfect venue! :D

Describe your campaign in 10 words or less

Some campaigns here I'd love to read more about. Anyhow... Military force in foreign lands battling undead crusade; Scarred Lands.

WFRP - THIRD Edition Announced from FFG

Wow. This is definitely not my game from near 20 years ago. Luckily I still have all my books. That said, I would love to try out the mechanics. I have enough faith in Fantasy Flight to know they'll do their best.

    Aeon (updated 10/9/14)

My apologies for WoW references in this thread, but it looks like the Eadric the Pure NPC is more than just a quest-giver. It appears he's one of the new bosses to fight in the upcoming Trial of the Champion. http://static.mmo-champion.com/mmoc/images/news/2009/june/eadricthepure.jpg They've...

Planescape modules - which are any good?

I agree with most of the posts here in regards to Dead Gods and other mods. I love Eternal Boundary - hands down my favorite. I don't enjoy Infinite Staircase and Modron March as much, but their beauty is that they're compilations, so you can pick and choose which ones to use. Well of Worlds...

    Coolest. Gaming Set-up. Evar.

That's close to the setup I have. My projector is atop a tall hutch cabinet, and I have a framed mirror suspended from small chains and plant hooks in the ceiling. As you'll be bouncing the image at an angle, you'll have to adjust the keystone settings all the way, and even then you'll...

    Monk Preview

I like the class writeup for the most part. The only thing that bugs me is the unwieldy keyword 'Full Discipline'. I've never had a problem with 4e's joined words like Feywild, but this one sounds particularly clunky. Maybe if the powers weren't called Disciplines themselves... Have they used...

Battle Graph -- in my hands

The Battlegraph tiles were a hit at my FLGS last night for the RPGA games. People accustomed to using Tact-Tiles were glad to see that these held up to standard usage. They're very bright under the flourescent lights, but it makes the dry erase lines stand out well. All in all, I'm glad to have...
