    LMoP to OotA

Hi all. I've been reading up on other threads about where to take players who've just finished Lost Mines. Part of me is toying with a homebrew hag-based story line, but I'm not sure I'll have the time for that. The other part of me is thinking of running Out of the Abyss for them. I'll have...

D&D 5E (2014) Enhancing "Rise of Tiamat" (Practical stuff to try at your table!)

I agree about these episodes being a means to an end, with that end being to get the characters to a reasonably high level in the allotted page count. I replaced the first cult strikes back episode with the Frozen Castle adventure, which worked out great. The players really got a kick out of...

D&D 5E (2014) Rise of Tiamat - looking for input on our next session [spoilery]

Nice! Thanks everyone. I think there are some great options here. I'm thinking NPC cleric's powers desert him, and the Yetis behave badly. That should make for some excellent drama. In the meantime, Half-Face becomes the party's new best friend... Plus I think the council will be none too...

D&D 5E (2014) Rise of Tiamat - looking for input on our next session [spoilery]

I like the "slow realization of what's in their future" aspect of that. Hopefully they've not run across this one in the Monster Manual before. I can see where the next time they bump into him (in a new body) will potentially be even better. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk

D&D 5E (2014) Rise of Tiamat - looking for input on our next session [spoilery]

Hi everyone - I'm currently taking a group through RoT, and this next session is sort of transitional in nature. There are a few loose ends and storylines that might need wrapping up. Looking for a few suggestions. Here are some pertinent details: A few sessions ago, the group completed the...

D&D 5E (2014) Enhancing "Rise of Tiamat" (Practical stuff to try at your table!)

I'd forgotten about that one. It's do-able for tenth level characters, so maybe I'll contrive a reason that they need to be dispatched up that way. I don't want to put the party off the pace to have a chance at succeeding at the final encounter by simply skipping the level up associated with...

D&D 5E (2014) Enhancing "Rise of Tiamat" (Practical stuff to try at your table!)

My group is on the verge of the first "The Cult Strikes Back" episode. They've completed the first council meeting, the Sea of Moving Ice and Varram the White sections, and just reached tenth level. Given that they literally just leveled up, I'm having a hard time justifying another level...

Have You Seen The Pax East Acquisitions Inc. Game Yet?

I felt like Mike's half was the more spontaneous of the two. I almost cringed for Patrick at times, not that I'm saying I could do half as good ;-) I absolutely like Chris better as a DM than as a player. Just didn't feel like he had the continual presence and participation in the banter that...

Recommendations for a first time (teenage) DM

It's sounding like the AL material has some great options. Thanks for the tips. Elfcrusher - these? http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?t=468720

Recommendations for a first time (teenage) DM

I thought of the AL modules as well. Thanks for pointing out some of the better candidates! At first, I was thinking some of the guidance at the beginning of each module was a little AL-specific, but as I read through it, it's generally just good advice.

Recommendations for a first time (teenage) DM

Hey thanks - those look promising! The first scenario being optimized for third level characters helps, I think. Characters are not too squishy, but also not overwhelming to deal with. I'll give these a read.

Recommendations for a first time (teenage) DM

We've been having a fantastic time playing 5th edition over the last year or so. My thirteen year old sons, their friends and I have played LMoP, as well as ToD. My one son DM'd LMoP while the rest of us played, and I've DM'd ToD. My other son is looking to have a crack at DMing, and I'm...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Resolutions!

I came back to D&D last year, after a hiatus reaching back into 1e days, DMing when I had previously been a player. We've played canned adventure paths up until now, but this thread prompted me to get my keyster in gear about actually writing an adventure the way I've been meaning to. Cranked...

D&D 5E (2014) Escapist article on SCAG is Brutal.

Same experience here - this book comprises a manageable amount of information for me to wrap my head around, without trying to "boil the ocean" by reading through a bazillion pages of fluff and crunch from umpteen books. I'm too busy at this point in my life to DM anything but the published...

    D&D 5E (2014) Why does 5E SUCK?

Nothing. It's not perfect, but being someone who never played anything but 1e before 5e came along, it's a welcome and logical evolution from where I started.
