Spelljammer [Spelljammer] Illithid to Remain "100% bad guys" -- Neogi maybe not?

That is basically how they are depicted in Realmspace. On their planet, Glyth, they have ranches of "brain cattle" humanoids that basically live their entire lives there, and are well educated (because smarter brains taste better). Intelligence tests determine who is allowed to breed, so as to...

Spelljammer [Spelljammer] Illithid to Remain "100% bad guys" -- Neogi maybe not?

Was that sarcasm? In case not, it is the same Mirt, and Spelljammer Academy (like all Adventurers League material) starts in the the Forgotten Realms. "Realmspace" has always been a thing in Spelljammer. One of the reasons for the setting was to link the existing campaign settings.

Spelljammer Space Clowns Are A Thing In Spelljammer

I always thought clowns were scary because they were funny. There's an undercurrent of wrongness in the performative comedy. The painted on smile, even if the actor frowns. Many clowns are mute, which introduces another aspect of exaggerated strangeness to their performance. And of course, even...

    D&D 5E (2014) "I Prefer for My 5E D&D Campaigns to Have a Pre-Determined Ending Point" (a poll)

Well, for a campaign, it can go on until it reaches a natural ending or we get bored and decide to do something else. It absolutely shouldn't have a predetermined plot ending. On the other hand, I'm currently running Curse of Strahd, and when it ends, it ends and we will go on to something...

D&D 5E (2014) Astral Adventure Generator: WotC AI adventure hook generator.

Shield guardians seem to be a big favorite in the D&D Home Office, too... almost every big adventure book has one.

Spelljammer Meet The Giff--Spelljammer's Space Pirate Hippos!

But Jeremy Crawford made a big deal about how astral elves can get skill proficiencies during their trance specifically because of their connection with the Astral Plane. Although I'm sure the PHB elves will have the updated Trance from Monsters of the Multiverse.

Spelljammer Hadozee: You got Starfrontiers in my Spelljammer!

I don't think this video told us anything new, unless I missed something. Maybe no changes from the UA?

Spelljammer Astral Elves: Spelljammer's Elves In Spaaaaace!

Perhaps you're right, several of the updated "subraces" in Monsters of the Multiverse omit or alter traits from the "base race".

    Spelljammer Autognomes! Spelljammers constructs.

Autognomes first(?) appeared in the 2nd Spelljammer Monstrous Compendium (MC9) in 1991.

Spelljammer Astral Elves: Spelljammer's Elves In Spaaaaace!

I'm OK with these elves, and I think 5e has been doing some interesting stuff with the cosmology of elves (at least until they send Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes into the memory hole). I agree that thematically they shouldn't have darkvision but I doubt they will remove it since that is a core...

    D&D Campaign Case: Creatures Review

Might be worthwhile if I ever get back to playing in person. (I fear my players have become too comfortable playing in their pajamas.)

D&D 5E (2014) New Unearthed Arcana: Wonders of the Multiverse

I don't mind the idea of "Criminal gives Dungeon Delver" but what happens to people who don't want to deal with the complexity of feats? Either feats are no longer optional, or the entire table has to decide whether or not feats will be allowed in the campaign.

D&D 5E (2014) List the character types and level of your current 5E games

I'm running Curse of Strahd, and we are just closing in on the final act, just a few XP short of level 10: Human grave domain cleric (from "real" Earth in A.D. 640, originally from Wales, but ended up in Egypt and embraced the worship of Anubis) High elf arcane trickster rogue (a moon elf from...

D&D 5E (2014) Journeys into the Radiant Citadel shows up in the wild!

Maybe... though I was really into Ravenloft in the mid '90s, and I played in a somewhat short-lived but memorable Planescape campaign. Even back then there were a lot of people interested in D&D with a different twist from "orcs and ogres".

D&D 5E (2014) What is the Astral Sea according to 5e?

Jeremy Crawford says, "It is a realm of thought which connects to all of the Outer Planes, which are places ultimately of belief. And so if you are in this realm of thought, you might be there physically but you are in a way starting to bleed into almost a 'thought version' of yourself. This is...

D&D 5E (2014) How long since the last official D&D hardcover you last bought?

Last book I bought was Fizban's last October. But I will pick up Journeys Through Radiant Citadel on Wednesday and then the Spelljammer set when it comes out next month.

D&D 5E (2014) What is the Astral Sea according to 5e?

The great thing is you can leave it diagetically vague. "Some sages postulate that when a spelljammer enters the Astral Sea, the ship and its crew physically cease to exist, and are transformed into purely mental constructs in that realm of insubstantial dreams. Upon exiting into physical...

    Red Box discontinued......Smart Move?

I wonder how many people actually come to D&D completely cold, and buy a starter set in a bookstore with no advice from more experienced players. My experience is that people who are new to 4e (or D&D or even role playing in general) come to the game is that they move in similar social circles...

WIR S1 Tomb of Horrors [SPOILERS!! SPOILERS EVERYWHERE!!]‏

I don't think it's meant as a huge threat from the pillared hall side. It's more meant as a death trap for people who get teleported (probably naked, as Bullgrit discusses) to room 27A (the "Chamber of Hopelessness"!). If the door on that side is opened, "all of the swords and shields swoop from...
