    D&D 5E (2024) How to import "race" flavor into D&D 2024 inclusively

I would also argue it allows for variation within races and cultures in ways that deal with the mishmash of tropes more effectively: elves usually get both the archer/sword and magic-user thing, but there's a bit of tension because other characters are depicted as specialized. There's famous...

Yeah, I really don't agree. I like the way 5e does it, because you're choosing to spend your downtime training in different ways.

This is why I'd rather have species feats - especially if they're implemented in 2024 with 4th level+ prerequisites - to reflect cultural specialties as opposed to the emphasis on biological superiority or inferiority. I find it much easier to narrativize something like Elven Accuracy as "this...

Yeah, I wasn't a fan of that. I like magical items as much as the next guy, but them being the only way to improve attributes is an immersion and fantasy problem for me. Yes, the Girdle of Hippolyta and Megingjörð are classic tropes, but so is the fantasy of someone "training against the roaring...

And this sort of stuff is important for balance/scaling/class fantasy issues, too. If the DMG is chocka with magic weapons, but almost nothing for Unarmed Strikes, that disadvantages Monks relative to other martials, and forces Monk players into the unfun choice of either falling behind...

    D&D 5E (2024) How to import "race" flavor into D&D 2024 inclusively

I remember, and it was a bad idea at the time too. The whole point of having character classes with levels, hell the whole point of having persistent characters rather than just randomly picking playing pieces at the start of every session, is so that you can learn and work and grow over time...

Yes, that makes sense - no one ever gets stronger or more agile or wiser, we’re all just frozen in our early “twenties,” forever.

I meant in the same turn, using a Shortsword and Scimitar for example. Not sure. Will check in the morning.

It gets 1d6+Dex with TWF, and can combine that with Vex to give itself Advantage, so it's considerably more than a d4.

I don't know, but then again I don't know Treantmonk's setup for his Champion Fighter.

I meant the range of DPR values. But I don't see why the other builds are necessarily melee-only. There are Dex-based Fighters and the like.

D&D General Tech in DnD; What should be included and how much is too much? (+)

I think magi-tech can work, if you make an effort to keep the "magi" front and center. Having gunpowder be made by Alchemists helps; likewise, having a lot of guns be enchanted helps; also, if they ever revise the Gunslinger in the future, it would be cool if they were to borrow an idea from the...

No. Dead last can mean you're in last "by a considerable margin," but it can also just mean last. Also, I did note that they're "next to dead last" tho, so they're not actually dead last. However, I think they probably are dead last if you use a different Paladin subclass and/or go further...

Sorry, meant DPR. It is next to dead last tho. It's just that the range is smaller (although I do want to check on his assumptions versus those of others, because that has an effect).

Are you including the warlock when you’re arriving at the midpoint? Because I’m not sure that’s relevant to a question of how the Rogue compares to other martials.
