D&D General Playing Nicely In The Sandbox

Page 6 of the Player's Handbook has the sentence, "Ultimately, the Dungeon Master is the authority on the campaign and its setting, even if the setting is a published world." So I think we are ok there. This article seems little more like don't break the kingdom or save the world every...

    D&D 5E (2014) 0 HP =/= Down, Dying, and Death

A level 1 warrior crit & killed a Sith that was hunting them in our Clone Wars campaign. Caused me to redo alot of the story on the fly but by the Force it was epic. I think the problem is when a PC can go out the same way it's not as 'epic'.

Great, now the battle-axe will be overpriced for 100,000 gp on Amazon. Darn it.

    Dune RPG Details Emerge!

With all the comments on 2d20 games I usually see i'm surprised this was 1st on the anticipated 2020 games list. I am very interested to see how they use the system for a 'grittier' & political setting. I'm assuming some sort of honor or prestige mechanic would be used for social interaction...

    Modiphius’ Latest License: Dishonored

What I've seen between Conan & JCoM the differences warrant a fair amount of work. For example, JCoM momentum is individual and the talents are very vague to make a powerful, over the top action character (kind of like Clone Wars Jedi). Though stronger than your average mook, the talents of...

    Modiphius’ Latest License: Dishonored

I used to agree with this. When Conan first came out & reading someone's copy of the book I thought 'No thanks, I'll do Runequest or Openquest and use the lore.' Then I tried John Carter at a Con for the heck of it and was completely surprised. I tried Conan at a different Con, surprised...

Feast of Legends is a Tabletop RPG Produced By... Wendy's!

As much as I used to love Wendy's (our 1e/2e group would go there the day after the game) I can't 'stomach' this. The last time the family ate there we had to save vs. squirts for half-Con damage. There's a reason we call it Bendy's (eat at night, bend on the john all day). It is funny to see...

    D&D General Socially Acceptable Necromancers?

Should have asked first; is this a fantasy campaign or other? Disguising skeletons as cheap branch golems, robots, or mutant followers with radioactive transparent skin may be an option. Wrap zombies in linens so you can say they're leperous or installing wires to look like cyborgs might be a...

    D&D General Socially Acceptable Necromancers?

I'd say you need a culture change! ;) Think of ancient Egypt, or the Toraja of Sulawesi in Indonesia. If we're looking outside the modern western mindset, death was kind of a normal day thing (minus plagues, famine, or the like coming around) and dead bodies would not necessarily be cleaned up...

    Visual Guide Races of Greyhawk???

Closest I could find: https://greyhawkplus.fandom.com/wiki/Humans_of_the_Flanaess This may help with earth like equivalents: https://www.greyhawkgrognard.com/2012/11/12/the-flanaess-as-european-analogue/ I tend to use the Osprey books as visuals since I tend to draw on earth history for...

    Initiative options?

    1. I was thinking of something similar to this. Every group of enemies (4 goblins in one group, the 2 orcs in the second group, and the ogre in the third group for example) have a static Init score= DEX mod + proficiency mod + 10. Players roll their initiative normally each round. Any that...
