They Came From Beyond The Review!

Oh thank you, I really want to get this read and to the table, I think I have players who would grok this.

(Traveller) Secrets of the Ancients - Hardback now in Stock

It's a great campaign, which I ran way back when it first came out.

Did anyone actually play Tunnels and Trolls with friends?

Do the characters not in combat add their combat total to the party total? What happens if the characters in combat fail their SPT?

D&D 5E (2014) A Compilation of all the Race Changes in Monsters of the Multiverse

Same here. I have a happy feeling about the direction of the lore, I think I shall wait until 2024 for any system change.

Did anyone actually play Tunnels and Trolls with friends?

I have only played T&T face to face twice, once thirty years ago and once five years back. Both were great. But I play T&T solo a lot over the last 36 years. I really must run it face to face, I think I might be ready....

    "Casual" RPGs

But once you grok FAE then you can improv a session including setting, adventure and resolution with zero prep. Grokking it needs not any experience of other RPGs IMHO.

    D&D 5E (2014) How Old-School is 5th Edition? Can it even do Old-School?

If you want a grittier, harder game with slower progression, then look to the DMG and turn on all the options mentioned previously, plus the Morale rules. That will give you what you want, as long as you are happy that a lot of progression will come from class progression not items...

D&D General "Red Orc" American Indians and "Yellow Orc" Mongolians in D&D

If early D&D was based on Braunstein mixed up with wargaming then it would have exhibited strong narrativist and gamist trends, probably at the same gaming table through the night. I don't find this odd, it's how we play RPGs now and how we played them in 1980. There really isn't One True Way.

    D&D 5E (2014) Recent Errata clarifications

Yes. I dislike the "half" tag. It's gone for my games. That means no half people except halflings!

    D&D 5E (2014) Recent Errata clarifications

I have played RPGs since 1980 and D&D since 1981. I am delighted by the current changes to alignment and nuancing of ancestries and cultures. Bring it on!

Alternatives to 5E (I ask for no particular reason...)

Yes. This. Don't know why I didn't say it up front. My fave F20 game

Alternatives to 5E (I ask for no particular reason...)

If you like the idea of OSR adjacent, then OSE from Necrotic Gnome gets great reviews and I adore their Dolmenwood setting. More BECMI than AD&D but can be taken that way as well. All BECMI stuff available on DMs Guild will run as is. Similarly Castles & Crusades is OSR adjacent, maybe more...

TSR Now it’s WotC’s Turn: WotC Moves Against TSR3

You forget: People who remember clearly what a mismanaged sh**show TSR was originally and frankly prefer WOTC. I say that from authentic lived experience. Do you think Mr Dunwoody likes goth?

Have you seen the Kobold GM guides?

D&D 5E (2024) I think we are on the cusp of a sea change.

I have always enjoyed both since the 80s. So I am with you, all these approaches have been there since the beginning at the table, if perhaps a little less published as D&D adventures than other systems, but that didn't mean people weren't emoting their hearts out in D&D games or storming lairs...

Moorcock Yup, it's amazing how his influencer hobby has been completely obscured and forgotten. Oh well at least it means he can be rediscovered later.
