    Energy Weapons VS Ballistic Weapons

In my own setting (probably best described as being on the lower tech end of sci-fi') ballistic weapons are still used as well a energy weapons. Pulse Photon weapons or 'lasers' as their more commonly known as, are the most common weapon around, being cheep, reliable and with a high ammo...

    What's your DM Gimmick?

'Furious' Jack Cobler 'The Orc Biter'. "I'm not a sodding halfling!!!" A recurring character (well, twice so far but I plan to continue); jack is aggresive, grumpy, a heavy drinker, weilds a great axe and 3 ft tall. In a world full of halflings, gnomes and other short folk a human midget can...

    Creature - Xellios, Sprit Parasite

Thanks for the support. :) I’m thinking of creating similar creatures with the same kind of physiology and environment. Alien looking ethereal creatures that aren't made of physical material but can manipulate spirits like we can matter. Their not exactly like ghosts, I haven't quite decided...

    TWF penalties

I would like to second that sigh. Its all been said, and I can't see whats still to argue. Its all been said and now repeated. As I said before, it doesn't matter what your holding (presumeing reasonable weight and shape, etc) if you don't use/attack with it then it wont impede you other arm...

    Sundering Armor Mechanic

1/5 damage could be a fiddly number at times, 1/4 or 1/2 might be a bit quicker. Also you could think about it being non lethal damage. I could imagine it as a fairly normal attack at norm AC and taking -4 on the attack that is just intended to get at the armour more than usual, sacrificing the...

    The coolest looking genre?

:p HeHe. Sorry, I know thats not what you meant. When you look at fire fight art it always has a great sense of motion (maybe because everyone is fireing at the same damn time :) ) which just makes it all much more interesting. You follow the tracer fire to the other side, and then look...

    TWF penalties

So, as long as your feats get rid of that -4 off hand, I would say that you can use your 'left' hand as well as the other. Thats just what I was thinking. Personaly, in the case of the 100lb bag I would rule that it would cause penaltys to most weapons/attacks. But not the others of course.

    TWF penalties

I hadn't considerd TWD, but that makes sense, and is pretty much what I was saying anyway. Agreed. I don't think it would be that much hassle, but fair enough. I don't see any real problem with that.

    Sundering Armor Mechanic

Hmm. Yes I thought that was how you were working it. In that case where is the problem with magic armour? More AC, whether from magic or otherwise would mean more hit points. That's the bit I got a little confused over.

    TWF penalties

Do you mean the benefit of being able to switch between two held weapons, say, a cold iron and a adamantine weapon? Yes that is a benefit I guess, but provided you dont use both in the same round, you wouldn't run into the TWF penalties. However there is the matter of left or right hands...

    Simulacrum PC

The more 'special' you make this Simulacrum of yours the better the game will work. If it was just as the base spell and nothing extra, then I wouldn't let it be a PC. If it was accidentaly infused with 'stuf' or was created by doing 'this' then it becomes much more playable. Add more...

    DM awarded bonus skill points

Makes sense. Ive already done this a teny bit. I had a player who had to stay at an apple farm for about a month. Dureing this he saw a lot of cider being made, and as such I gave him a skill point in cider brewing. Just one, and so specific it probably will never be needed. But its nice to...

    Sundering Armor Mechanic

Ah, good. This is something ive thought about, but so far hadn't really tried working anything out. I like this bit, sounds about right and works well. (at least in my head) Perhaps just give it more hps per AC mod; so rather than losing 1AC per 5 damage, 1AC per 6,8 or 10 (whatever seems right).
  14. The Edge

    TWF penalties

I agree. This really insn't that complex. The penalties are for the difficultly of cordinateing attacks with two weapons at once, merely holding dosen't give any problems. I say it again for those who already have. No benifit = No penalty. If your not attacking with two weapons then your not...

    Creature - Xellios, Sprit Parasite

"A small blue and faintly glowing creature drifts in the sky, resembleing a ghostly translucent squid. it floats weightlessly, ignoreing the wind." Xellios (Don't realy like the name much) are tiny ethereal blue squid like cretures, originlay from a demi plane that disappeared long ago, they...

Why Are Warrior Women Never Ugly?

A player in my campain runs his character 'Davos the bastard' as hes known. Davos isn't a bad guy at all, really the classic rogue (running close to bard at times), but he all ways has time to ask what the female NPCs looks like (if I haven't said already). He put together a little section at...

    The Jester's Deck

Ok, heres another. Ace of Clubs: Sprit Parasite “You have a guest” (Tiny ethereal blue squid like creature arrives from another dimension and flies into drawer, no save) The parasitic creature in question is a Xellios, a creature that I am currently woring on for possible use in my campaign...

    Shields nerfed in D&D?

It can be surprising how useful a big sheet of hard stuff is at keeping big lumps of hard stuff of soft little you. Haveing a friend that I would frankly call insane, I was once invited to his place for a 'war game' against his brother. Little did I know that I would have to be defending my self...

    civic magic items

Ive forgoten the name, but imagine several sets of those dimensional rings used to hold up a floating palace or other interesting building. Heres what you'd do; set down several of the ring portal things with their counterparts set up on a tall scaffholding or tempory structure(bigger versions...

    Help Me Build a Weirdo

How about...A Dwarf Fighter... *Tumble weed* ... *Cricket noises* Considering how 'origional' everyone trys so hard to be, that could well be the most origional character somes DM have seen for years. :p Saying that you thought about an undead character made me think of this amuseing...
