Disengage doesn't use any of your movement. Taking the Disengage action just means you are not subject to attacks of opportunity that round. After that, you can use your movement as usual.

A scimitar would also work. Sadly, I think feats or extra multi-classing are the only ways to add a martial weapon proficiency.

Not sure about overpowered, but Scout seems really front-loaded. Taking that one level as a Scout gives three good skill proficiencies, multiple maneuvers, and the ranger feature.

I'm mostly a DM. The only battlemaster at my tables spends maneuvers like a drunken sailor trying to be a 4e warlord.
