    Combinations used in TWF

Pick this! One of the characters I have on the back-burner (for when I need a new character) is a Dwarven Ranger who wields a Heavy Pick and a Light Pick. In one of the games I'm in right now we had a Wild Elven Barb/Ranger/Fighter who used two hand-axes. He was going for a Native...

    (ot) Toronto Get Together!

Waiting Game I'm going to put off starting a new thread for a week or so. I'm hoping Morrus will have figured out how to "fix" the boards by then. As I see it, 3 things pooched the first meeting: 1. Timing--that weekend was bad for many, and we didn't plan far enough in advance. 2. Board...

    Favorite Dragon in a Movie

Sean Connery may rock, but he is no match for Astronomy, Geography, Zoology........ How can I be the only one to vote for Flight of Dragons?! This poll is rigged! Rigged, I tell you!" Gorbach, Smurgle, etc. It doesn't get any better than that! "I say old chap, bad show!"--Sir Oren...

    (ot) Toronto Get Together!

Craptastic We (Cor Azer and myself) are assuming that this is a bust since response has been tepid at best.... But, I think it would be a good idea to set up a proper "Get-Together" along the lines of what the Boston and Chicago folks did.....you know, plan way in advance, set-up games with...

Again, I'm not as familiar with Toronto as some others here are, but the Pickle Barrel sounds OK. I'm pretty flexible, so I'll go with the flow....

This is my new characater, a gnomish librarian. Help please. (long)

Languages, man. Languages. How was he able to read so many books if the only mainstream language he knows is Common. He should have the following: Draconic, Elven, Chondathan (lot of areas speak this), and a lot more Forgotten Realms languages. They are listed on p. 85 of the FRCS...

    Map-making with what skills?

This is what my guy has... One of my characters has the following skills that I chose in order to make "pretty" maps: Craft: Cartography (duh), Knowledge (Geography) (so he knows basics landforms, and can figure out what makes sense, etc), Craft: Drawing (pretty maps, remember), Profession...

    All non-essential functions disabled

No Improvement Shutting off all the bells and whistles hasn't improved anything on my end. If anything, the boards have become slower as a result. In general it's taking me more than 10 times as long to load a page as last week. Around 2pm ET it would take more than 5 minutes to load a page...

    Hardness of gems

Moh was some dude, like in the 1800s, who came up with a relative hardness scale for minerals. It is a 10 point scale (1-10). It's based on the ability of one mineral to scratch another. On this scale aragonite (pearl) would be 3.5-4, corundum (sapphire or ruby) is ~9, and diamond is 10 (the...

    Hardness of gems

Ooopss.... When I first went through this thread, I read "pearl" as Opal for some strange reason. Pearl: Moh's hardness 3.5-4. Made of aragonite (similar to calcite). Very susceptible to hydrochloric acid, easily damaged. My bad.

Dwarven Stronghold - a community effort

One option is for Druids to handle a lrage portion of those responsibilities. My original intention was for Druids to serve as the siege weapons/counter-siege weapons. With a focus on spells and abilities that affect stone, they would serve a valuable role in: engineering, architecture...

Dwarven Stronghold - a community effort

Re: Dwarven Military To be blunt, this is kinda creepy. My plan for the Dwarven Rangers was to have them dual wield heavy and light picks. My plan for the druids was for them to wield spears of some sort. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who thought picks should be an archetypal...

    Hardness of gems

Sapphire and Ruby are both corundum, and according to Moh's hardness scale they have a hardness of 9 (only diamond is harder). Your average pocket knife has a hardness of ~5.5 on this scale. This scale represents the ability of one object to scratch another, so it doesn't take into account how...

Dwarven Stronghold - a community effort

Wulf = Smart I tried to post this earlier but the boards were acting all wonky. I agree with Wulf entirely. This are the things I think we need to work on to get this project moving forward. I think before we all start working on the more detailed aspects we need a absic framework in place...
