You could change them from flat -5/+10 to -Proficiency/2x Proficiency. So at 1st it's only -2/+4. I've found that works to bring some of the swinginess of the feats down at my tables. Love me some Minotaur sailor/reavers! I have an entire island of them on my homebrew setting :)

Tobriand the metal mage, one of Halaster's "apprentices" might benefit from a change from wizard to something like a clockwork sorcerer depending on the abilities.

Xanathar's has some fun tables for these if people don't want to come up with their own! I have a whole questionnaire I give to my players (nothing is required!!) to get their thoughts flowing on who or what they envision for that character. Or they can roll stuff to get their creative juices...

To be fair, Blade-lock isn't technically a Subclass. You could have a Pact of the Blade for any Patron after all. That's also game dependent a bit. A Pact of the Chain Warlock isn't going to feel like their choice was super good if the game only does Social situations so the familiar can't Help...

I mean, Hasbro owns WotC and D&D. They could fill Dragon with cross branded advertising for all their different divisions/lines of toys/etc., especially the board games and MtG and such with the budgeted advertising dollars. They would probably have enough just there to not have to open it...

Pretty sure it was a 2e thing. I remember them having a RoF of 3/1, but even then you only got 1 Weapon proficiency to start the game. I always did a dagger just in case because it had flexibility.

Honestly thats the problem with most of these. The only one I selected from this list is Four-Elements Monk. They're just not good. Beastmaster Ranger is doing pretty well with the Class Features UA, so I think they're good. They would have been my #2 choice on this list.

I guess they don't, and sure they are doing all that other stuff, but they're also still putting out Dragon+, which is very much a "magazine in e-format", even if it's not a PDF. I don't have time as a working person to keep up with all the different articles and streams and podcasts, etc. I...

I'm of two minds. I fully agree with @Umbran here, but at the same time, I never bother to read magazines in e-format, they're just too easy to forget about while a physical magazine is sitting on my table waiting to read.

I did honestly, though I love them myself and play them more than any other class. My biggest gripe is the # of spells known, but other than that they have proven a pretty solid class in play for me.

Can't vote unless you select at least one option. I'm probably in the minority, but think that most classes in 5e are pretty good. Some of the base classes are weaker than others, but overall I think the classes themselves are good. Even Ranger with some of the XGE subclasses is fine.

I'm not really seeing the issue though. Charm Person isn't a concentration spell. Nor is it one that you get to save against each round. Eyes of Charming let you cast it 3/day, Staff of Charming let's you cast it up to 9-10 times per day, and then you have all the caster's spell slots to cast...

I second these ideas as well. Goggles of Charming, Mass Suggestion go a long way towards your goals. As does the Mantle of Majesty.

From a mechanics perspective perhaps, but not a lore one. Where have you seen them in the Lore/Fiction outside the fiction of the Realms? To me the Lore/Fiction is more important to what defines a setting than the mechanics with certain exceptions, defiling in Dark Sun for instance. But even...
