    D&D General How would you make this ruling? Vortex Warp

    Gut bacteria may not have a stat block, but by definition, it is a monster, for what that's worth.

    D&D General How would you make this ruling? Vortex Warp

    As much as I'd want to rule on the player's favor, I don't think this would work. You couldn't teleport someone sans clothing or weapons with the spell, as most spells of these types can only target unattended objects. I know it's a bit of a stretch to call a still alive character "an object"...

    D&D General What Is D&D Generally Bad At That You Wish It Was Better At?

    Well hey, I learned something new (to me, it's old news to some, lol). Ok, so there is one penalty for low Intelligence beyond mechanics, then, if you play that version of the game. I'm amused that by 3e, an 18 Int Barbarian would be completely illiterate, by comparison (at least by default).

    Similar to the "languages known" for AD&D Intelligence? That is something I forgot about, as well as bonus proficiencies and skill points in later editions. Or do you mean more like how eloquent your character is?

    D&D General What Is D&D Generally Bad At That You Wish It Was Better At?

    What drawbacks?* A low Int gives you a lower bonus on Int checks and saves. It affects some save DC's and how many spells a Wizard can prepare. Show me in the rules where anything else is said about how Int is supposed to impact play? *Obviously, this is from a 5e perspective, but I don't...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Psion+++++thread

    I really liked that supplement, though my playgroup found that Shugenja have woefully low amounts of Favor to work with and so that class is no longer being used.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Psion+++++thread

    I just wanted to acknowledge that I'm aware of your product (I even mention you in the first post), and I bought it, thank you! The thread spawned because CleverNickName asked me in another thread "what would you call a Psion and we'll build it" (asking me to move it to another thread, so here...

    D&D General My player did the bag of holding + portable hole thing and got sucked into the Astral Plane. Where is he?

    I was going to suggest this, but I'm not sure how many people would have gotten the reference, so I substituted the Deveels for Mercane.

    D&D General What Is D&D Generally Bad At That You Wish It Was Better At?

    If it then becomes the DM's job to ensure that a high Int/Wis character has the opportunity to not make mistakes, then why don't we see more leeway with people playing Charisma higher than their own? Because, whether or not you've seen this in action, the socially awkward/high Charisma...

    D&D General What Is D&D Generally Bad At That You Wish It Was Better At?

    So what about the reverse? How many Int 20 Wizard players are super-geniuses? When they do stupid things, should we police their roleplay by saying "you're too smart to do that"?

    D&D General My player did the bag of holding + portable hole thing and got sucked into the Astral Plane. Where is he?

    A merchant city on the Astral Plane controlled by the Mercane, a species of blue-skinned giants who put the Ferengi to shame as wily merchants. There, anything and everything can be purchased- for a price. Hope they have some gold on them to purchase a ride home (or for a message to be sent to...

    D&D General What Is D&D Generally Bad At That You Wish It Was Better At?

    Also, how do you really determine what Intelligence or Wisdom is required to come up with a given course of action? "Rolling under stat" can still result in an average person coming up with genius tactics fairly often!

    D&D General If we were re-designing the Tiny Hut-esc 'instant shelter' spells what would we change?

    a Unless said giant had a bone density approaching diamonds or something.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Psion+++++thread

    Well, CleverNickName asked me what I'd want from a class, but I doubt you could really make one class that would let you play any psionic archetype- there's a few. But you have to start somewhere, and I figure an Esper is the best place to start. Ideally, yes, you'd have not only Wild...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e Psion+++++thread

    Ok, hopefully five plus signs is enough, lol. I still have PTSD from the big thread a few years back (2022? Damn time sure flies)! The main problem with Psionics is that, like a lot of things, people have different ideas about what Psionics is, should be, and whether or not it really has any...
