    Playing Apparent Losers

My favorite loser that I played was definately a "Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass" character. I played a Nosferatu clan vampire with True Faith. I played him as a snivelling little twerp who, as his punishment for his wretched life, was forced to wear his sins openly in undeath. The thing was he...

    Utility Recharge Bias

Interesting rule. I was kicking around an idea where you could use encounter or dailes as often as you wanted, but you had to roll an 15+ first for an encounter or a 20 for a daily. That represented the chance to "make an opening" and use the ability for free. Otherwise, you could just use the...

    Favorite Fantasy Gods

What are your favorite deities from games or fiction? For some reason I really like Issek of the Jug. While he was only featured in one story and mentioned in another, Issek's faith really captured my imagination. The imagery and self-sacrifice of the cult really grabbed me. I also thought the...

    WotC: Kindle/E-Fiction Books? When?

I'm looking forward to getting a Kindle DX in September after the Big Family Vacation. The utility that this promises, having about 300 pdfs for work and play always available, is very exciting. I hope that I would be able to import some WotC and pre-WotC D&D pdfs on there as well.

    The Fall of Civilization

Another pilgrimage I'm going to miss out on. Drat. One day I too shall Burn.

How long until game stores are gone?

And yet, I find it much easier to carry the Eberron Player's guide to work to read on my lunch hour than my laptop. And if someone walks past my desk and steals my EPG when I'm in the restroom I'll be a lot less mad than if my laptop gets lifted. A big issue that need to be taken account of is...

    World Size

Is there any theoretical limit as to how large a moon of a gas giant can be? I was kicking around an idea for a system with three inhabitable worlds, the warm planet, the icy planet and the inhabital moon. The strange fields around the jovian planet purturbed by its moons, allow the inhabitable...

Where Has All the History Gone?

I just started reading the essay and it will take me a while to absorb and digest the information. But, as I was reading I am very surprised by your claim that you didn't find any mention of inheritances or legacies in 3rd edition. I would imagine that how important families and bloodlines are...

Dragonmarks, Revenants, Rust Monsters! - Lots of New DDI Articles

That's a good point, but I worry that the converse is now true. The Mark of Storm will be really enticing for a wizard but useless for a warlord. We'll see.

"HF" vs. "S&S" gaming: the underlying reason of conflict and change in D&D

I like Billy Gibbons and Yngwie Malmsteen, but Billy Holiday kinda bores me. But, it's all rock and roll to me.

    Wahoo vs. Traditional

It depends on my mood, really. Right now I am eagerly awaiting the Eberron player’s guide so I can finish up my 4e game where the noble families mine residuum from meteorite craters to give to the Empress of the Golden Throne. In return she keeps the creatures of Twilight beyond the Barrier...

Potential Problems In A New AD&D Campaign

In general, I have found that it is more advantageous to be a multiclassed whatever than a human whatever. Given how the experience points work the amount of experience it takes to get to be a 10th level whatever you can be an elven 9/9. If level limits are removed, and a game reaches those...

    Rules for a Stone-Age campaign

Here is a timeline that I cobbled together for a B/X game. Feel free to use or ignore my notes in the margins as you see fit. The idea was to gain some inspiration from our own timeline. Also, for an idea of one lucky tribe that has their own superior / magical weaponry, look up arsensic...
