Here, Let Me Fix "Powers Per Day" For You

Well again optional rules don't have to tick my fancy because if they are not a default assumption they are easily ignored. On a personal note I did not enjoy the idea that the functionality of my magic items were tied to the number of battles i had participated in. However (again personally) I...

    Full Release when?

The smart play would be to have the basic modules to emulate each edition ready to go at launch. Idk if that means a DMG for each or a chapter for each. The big question then becomes can those be ready and how long can they wait for them before financial needs/issues force the launch.

Here, Let Me Fix "Powers Per Day" For You

I'm not against an optional mechanical incentive for PCs to push on if people feel they need one. I think the trick will be making it feel like D&D.

I don't see how DDN prevents any of those playstyles. I see where people might not enjoy those playstyles but that is far from not allowing or supporting. People can play that way in any edition if they enjoy doing so.

I'm sorry I seem to be having some trouble following you here what playstyle is DDN not supporting?

Thats fine if the PCs aren't interested in the story and let the baddies leave and look for something else to loot. This isn't a system problem. Either the game is working as intended or there is a player/DM issue playstyle issue.

Here, Let Me Fix "Powers Per Day" For You

And that was thier first and possibly thier biggest mistake short of trashing the prior edition as a part of the marketing. No its not a binary choice sorry. its not just about time its about the world not being static. The monsters don't just stop moving when your PC moves off screen...or...

    Five-Minute Workday Article

Actually I believe they said such a fight would probably not be a challenge which is probably exactly what that fight was in your game. If however you were doing that in 4E you will have the added bonus in 5E of the fight not dragging on forever :)

    Five-Minute Workday Article

All the DM needs to do is maintain the consistancy of his game world while keeping an eye in the daily battle budget. There will be a learning curve for the players but this isn't the end of the world. If they blow all thier resources in the first battle and get thier clocks cleaned in the next...

D&D 5E (2014) Play Styles and DnD Next

I think that there are lots of factors that influence playstyle. Edition: various editions encourage certain playstyles from 1E gritty cautious explorations to 4E superhero PCs. Setting: playstyle can be strongly influenced by setting too. The Forgotten Realms encourage a different playstyle...

Here, Let Me Fix "Powers Per Day" For You

Speaking in general terms I do agree that all of those things are options for any PC and each has its own merit. Yet at the same time I haven't met a 1E player yet who would have considered the game ruined if a wizard could have squeezed off a low powered magical attack every round from a magic...

Here, Let Me Fix "Powers Per Day" For You

Your post has a lot of merit in my eyes. I have no issue with every class having at least some at will capability. Regarding avoiding the early/untimely novas while I embrace living worlds and active stories to dictate pacing and have consequences for novas and "15 min days" I do think its...

Here, Let Me Fix "Powers Per Day" For You

Having played both the fighter mark is more often ignored and has much less impact. The aegis is generally placed on creatures that are on the opposite side of other melee characters. This either forces the cretures to get thier damage reduced to almost nothing while simultaniously granting...

Here, Let Me Fix "Powers Per Day" For You

To be quite honest fighter marking seems very lack luster and not very impactful. Having played both a fighter and a swordmage (shielding, coronal guard) the fighter mark doesn't even come close to what a shielding swordmage can do. IMHO

I believe other editions allow multiple attacks but not once an encounter...wait for it...every round!

Yes because I attack is so much worse than saying "I rain of blows" aka. I attack him twice lol.

D&D 5E (2014) The Door, Player Expectations, and why 5e can't unify the fanbase.

I did not say fighters = wizards. I said the martial powersource as presented in 4E is basically fighter magic. I'm playing a 4E fighter. There is nothing wrong with it, its not badwrongfun. It is less "magical" than the other defender classes but fighter dalies and encounter powers still feel...
