D&D 5E (2014) With Respect to the Door and Expectations....The REAL Reason 5e Can't Unite the Base

I prefer melee abilities to be available every single round its nonsense limits like per encounter that annoy the heck out of me.

D&D 5E (2014) With Respect to the Door and Expectations....The REAL Reason 5e Can't Unite the Base

I will be surprised if anything more than bonus damaged gets automatically "baked in" to be quite honest.

    Energy Drain

Both ideas have merit and don't involve too much bookkeeping and would help put the fear of the undead back ino the game. What about ghouls should they have a condition like paralysis again?

    Energy Drain

Bookeeping the effects of a level loss or multiple level losses even if temporary does not sound fun to me...I think we even had this in one of the editions although I don't recall which one it might have been 3E but i'm not sure.

    Energy Drain

I think energy drained as a condition might be the best bet however 5E also needs to learn from 4E to avoid the piling on of too many simultanious condiions on players or monsters. There have been enough posts detailing the undesirable effects of stacking conditions that I won't waste space...

Why all the hate for Turn Undead?

I don't see faith = judeo-christian but since it seems like there is something personal at play here I think I will just bow out and say to each his own and have fun...

Why all the hate for Turn Undead?

I believe some editions did support the ability to turn stuff above and beyond undead like demons and devils for example and that doesn't bother me either.

D&D 5E (2014) With Respect to the Door and Expectations....The REAL Reason 5e Can't Unite the Base

Because I have faith that CS dice (or action dice for that matter) will be an optiona module not a default assumption. Therefore i will simply not use that option if I find it unpleasant.

Why all the hate for Turn Undead?

One might think that Nerull would not really worry about providing healing spells to his followers or the god of assasins either for that matter. I guess at this point its obvious we can nitpick each others position on this to death but whats the point in continuing down that path? You have a...

Why all the hate for Turn Undead?

It feels like you are applying the logic about what the god does or doesn't allow very selectively for a utility like turning undead but giving a free pass for healing for example. If the goddess of fire is so controlling about what she does or doesn't grant, like no turning undead because its...

Why all the hate for Turn Undead?

Why does the god of the sun or the moon care about healing?

Why all the hate for Turn Undead?

Sure and if you really want to follow that rabbit hole to the bottom you can have a giant highly detailed spell list for each and every god because why would the god of merchants give you the ability to call down a column of flame from the sky? Why would the god of healing let you summon a...

D&D 5E (2014) I hope 5th edition makes room for "Adventurers" and "Heroes".

Adventurers vs Heroes fells more like a playstyle/campaign tone issue than a system/edition issue to me. While I can certainly see how a system/edition can better support a specific playstyle/tone I don't think anything is impossible. Look at 3.x on the surface one wouldn't expect it to do grim...

Why all the hate for Turn Undead?

A cleric might just be appealing to their god for protection from the abomination that is a vampire. I don't believe divine intervention/aid/protection is unique to judeo-christian beliefs.

Why all the hate for Turn Undead?

I guess my position on this is that if you are a cleric the power of your faith is a real and tangible thing. Being able to turn the strength of your faith powered by sheer force of will etc into a tangible effect doesn't bother me. If you don't want them all to have it no biggie but in most...

Why all the hate for Turn Undead?

I've never had a problem with all clerics being able to turn undead. To me its a function of faith and what cleric wouldn't have that?

D&D 5E (2014) I hope 5th edition makes room for "Adventurers" and "Heroes".

Green Ronin's Book of the Righteous forever changed how I handle religions/gods in D&D I can't say enough good things about it. Most of it is edition neutral too!

D&D 5E (2014) I hope 5th edition makes room for "Adventurers" and "Heroes".

Yep another key event was the heir of isuldur revealing himself to the enemy via the palantir baiting Sauron into action.

D&D 5E (2014) With Respect to the Door and Expectations....The REAL Reason 5e Can't Unite the Base

I sincerely hope its a module and not a default assumption we shall see.

    D&D 4E What 5E needs to learn from 4E

Certainly I am not suggesting everyone needs to run boss fights like this or that every battle needs to be a boss fight. This is the dichotomy of 4E it does this sort of fight so very well sadly it wants to turn every fight into a boss fight (while a valid style for some, Its not what i want)...
