D&D 5E (2014) How Can D&D Next Win You Over?

I'm thinking the word balanced in this instance covers a lot of ground. It might not be 4E out of the box without modules however that doesn't make it 3E or broken either.

D&D 5E (2014) How much should 5e aim at balance?

Actually I would expect rain of blows to average lower damage since your strength bonus doesn't apply and rain of blows cetainly doesn't knock you through the air 15 feet and leave you prone so please tell me more of this balance you speak of ??? ;)

D&D 5E (2014) How much should 5e aim at balance?

I want 5E to have modules to emulate every edition/playstyle too we have no beef here. But I would still like to hear why Rain of Blows can't be done multiple times per encounter and Tide of Iron can...

D&D 5E (2014) How Can D&D Next Win You Over?

I'm sure they do I still think saying you can't do it with 5E after we have only seen the first playtest release and only 3 levels at that is a mighty big stretch IMHO.

D&D 5E (2014) How much should 5e aim at balance?

If people want to say because thats what the book says fine. But people please spare me the he can only do rain of blows (insert encounter power) once because he needs an opening poop it just doesn't stand up to the eye ball test. I would say knocking you 15' and prone along with a stab would...

D&D 5E (2014) How much should 5e aim at balance?

So your position is that its reasonable for my fighter to be able to ToI every round stabbing the same enemy over and over knocking him 15 feet away and prone with no opening. Yet to stand still and stab someone twice requires an opening that can only occur once per encounter? If you don't see...

D&D 5E (2014) How Can D&D Next Win You Over?

Or the 4E rogue might have snuck up done a boatload of damage action pointed done another boatload of damage and killed the murderer OH NO rogues are broken we need a more balanced game. We can go at this all day inventing bizarre scenarios that are essentially just corner cases. OH NO the...

D&D 5E (2014) How much should 5e aim at balance?

Although I have already ansewered his question I would like to take a minute and thank you for being so short sighted that you can't imagine a simple feat or two would change things a bit :) You have actually played 4E I hope and not just chiming in out of pure ignorance?

D&D 5E (2014) How much should 5e aim at balance?

Yes tide of iron plus, spear push, plus polearm momentum means my trident and shield weilding rushing cleats wearing fighter knocks his enemy 15 feet and prone every round no opening doesn't matter of you see it coming. But even if its 10 feet and prone or 5 feet and and standing up there is no...

D&D 5E (2014) How much should 5e aim at balance?

I believe you are actually there is no connection between swinging a sword and casting spell beyond ties to the action economy.

D&D 5E (2014) How much should 5e aim at balance?

Are we really splitting hairs to justify this rubbish? 3 squares or 15 feet take your pick thats how far my fighter pushes you over and over and over til you run away or die. You can't see it coming, you can't stop it. Yet stabbing twice in the same round is unrepeatable needs special openings...

D&D 5E (2014) How Can D&D Next Win You Over?

Its easy to pick corner cases, Its a 4E game and the encounter is all minions. The wizard wins the encounter the balance doesn't work.

D&D 5E (2014) How much should 5e aim at balance?

Speaking of a pile of horse crap are we really back on the opening fallacy again? So my fighter needs an opening to stab you twice with rain of blows after that you can see it coming and I can't do it. Yet I can stab you and knock you back 15 feet leaving you prone via tide of iron over and over...

D&D 5E (2014) How Can D&D Next Win You Over?

I believe that they in fact said if you wanted only one big battle you just spend your full XP budget on that battle. Nice try though.

Where exactly has 5E proposed that this is bad adventure design?

D&D 5E (2014) How Can D&D Next Win You Over?

Sorry I am not following your logic here. Are you saying that bad adventure/encounter design can't lead to a 5 minute adventuring day? That if the DM starts the day off with an encounter that totally thrashes the party and expends all thier hit points/healing surges/resources that he bears no...

D&D 5E (2014) How Can D&D Next Win You Over?

I never claimed to want 15 minute adventuring days. In fact in my 30 years of gaming they rarely if ever happened. In fact the last 15 minute adventuring day I experienced was in 4E when the defender essentially ran out of surges after the first fight of the day. It was you that advocated that...

D&D 5E (2014) How Can D&D Next Win You Over?

How odd a lot of people remember you reciently arguing that people wanted 15 minute adventuring days... Guess it depends upon if it supports your position or not.
