"over there somewhere" (Listening for Invisibles)

Yup, I'd agree with teh last 2 posts.. "Over there" to me would mean kind of to your left, right, in front, behind.... It would then be up to the spell wielder to take a chance at where to fire off the spell should they so wish

Familiars: Why Empathic Link before Speak with Master?

I know when I describe an empathic link theres is no way the familiar can convay the same info as an epathic link... Say the Hawk a familiar of a Sorceror is checking out a woodland path and there are 20 Orcs and 2 Ogres coming up the path, with Speak Language it could return and say "Blimey...

    Bluffside

So there are other players in Leeds! Where ar eyou all hiding, took me 4 years to find the group I play with! I'll not get into detailing what I like about Bluffside as I'll be a bit biased, I'll leave that upto the buying public.. But I do know that Travelling Man in teh Corn Exchange is...

I didn't like Bluffside. But I didn't read it, either!

Now first of all must state I did write a section of Bluffside (The Undercity and Sewers, and a couple of extra bits)... Personally I liked the layout, may seem biased, but I liked it.. yeah the map was a bit on the small scale side, especially compared to Freeport (nice map there guys) but...

What do you want in a role-playing club?

What I'd like to see from an RPG Club would be some inclusion for those of us outside of the States, the way the RPGA treated countries outside the USA has been handled very badly and there a lot of disgruntled people in Europe at the very least...

    I'm hearing rumblings...

I think someone said it before... but.. Enjoy teh game for what it is, a game, don't get bogged down in teh mechanics of it all.. If a rule is going to stop play, make a snap decision and review it afterwards then infrom teh group how to handle it next time. As for Feats etc.. make sure the...

Gaing Frontiers as a Publishing Outlet?

I like the idea but percieve the problem bien with its release dates, GF is a quaterly publication aint it (I really should know this  ) so it would not really be right for a series of adventures, and source material would have to be very selective to allow DMs to wait 3 months for the next...

    Question for Veteran DMs

How could you go wrong with classics like that... :) Though I never was a big fan of Descent... I ran one compaign starting with the Slavers series (A1-4 I think) and continued the theme for a while afterwards...

    Question for Veteran DMs

One of my best lasted about 6 years, till I had to move to a different city (but still play with a couple of the players but it means a 120 mile trip) about 12 years ago.. Not sure what it was about the game but all the players meshed really well, all had thier individual characteristics. We...

    Old Favorites?

Yup Grimtooths and Central Casting would be in there for me too.. spent many a merry afternoon just rolling up backgrounds for characters. Not sure if its applicable here but the lovely cardboard floorplans I used to get from Games Workshop too, though its much more conveniant on a battle mat...

    Spellfire Wielder feat - usable?

Personally I probably wouldnt aloow this either, but remember.. "Whats good for the goose is good for the wombat", or something like that.. If your players have it they can expect to come across others useing it....

GURPS - a matter of style and setting.

Hehehehe never realised it was the 1830's.. not that that would have mattered, my history is awful.. was always more interested in the murkier side of history.. plagues, disease, sewers.. I'm kinda strange that way... But I was sure Queen Victoria was mentioned in teh book.. Ta anyway.. :)

    Elfwood-esque

Elfwood also has a section for writers, adn are even in the process of brining out an online and in print magazine of short stories from therein.. I think... but they do have a writers forum.... Not sure if thats what you were after, or if it was another specific site...

GURPS - a matter of style and setting.

I've been a huge GURPS fan for a long time now, though as has been said, its not to everyones likeing... My favourite GURPS Worldbooks... in no particular order.. GURPS Goblins - Playing Goblins in a Victorian Setting GURPS Autoduel - I love this, based on SJGs own Car Wars game GURPS...

D&D slides farther into popular culture

There was also a British film last year, Saving Grace (About a woman trying to save her house by selling weed), a charcter in there played by Bill Bialy I think tried to avoid a "kidnap" by saying he had hi "D&D Tournament, it's the Grand final". Just a little bit there, and he had long hair, a...

D&D slides farther into popular culture

Did anyone ever spot the Rust Monster in an episode of Futurama, along with Gygaxs Head in one of them thar Jars... :) As for DnD in my school, I was playing DnD here in England about the time Punk was really popular... To be found playing a "geeky" game like D&D would surely have resulted in a...
