    D&D 5E (2024) Reworking the 2024 Hiding rules

This is a mess but it's just ideas to be organized: The problem with the "Hide" action is it is too narrow in scope. It deals only with sight. I think there should be more language regarding the target's "awareness". 1. There should be mention of ambushing and surprise. 2. There should be...

[OOC] Quickleaf's Rime of the Frostmaiden [recruiting 1 player]

I post fairly often so it’s probably fair to say that, if you check in once a week, there will be an opportunity to post if you want to.

[OOC] Quickleaf's Rime of the Frostmaiden [recruiting 1 player]

Why not convince the dogs to run away if we free them. Convince them to play hide and seek or convince them we have yummy food or something. We are trying to delay them for a day so we get a long rest.

How do you use the "Trivia" ability?

Trivia is clearly used for social checks. Used to confuse or daze opponents and put them off-guard. Maybe even to impress. Roll knowledge check using charisma or Persuasion/Convince check using INT “Why does he keep talking about all these useless obscure facts?” “He’d probably be amazing on...

AtG Howling Crag (5e PBP) OOC

It's 1 hour invisibility but Gimlack is both casting invisibility and fly. So he has to wait until we're clear of the gates before he casts fly since they're both concentration. That's why we were going to go in first, invisibly. Scope the place out, then use our telepathy to tell the flyers...

AtG Howling Crag (5e PBP) OOC

Sure. We kind of showed up in reverse order. The climbers were supposed to Show up invisibly and scout before the flyers arrived. So I imagine Donnell and the Colonel are surprised they became visible early. No plans survive contact with the enemy!

Assault on Dragonspear (5e PBP) OOC (Full)

I don't know if I responded to this. I'm not sure if leaving Oh-six to follow the others would work? He'd have to sneak through the portal. There's really nothing Morgan can say or do to help in that regard. I don't have scry, only Sending. He doesn't even have a familiar to send. Or any...

(IC) Quickleaf's Rime of the Frostmaiden

[/td] [/TR] [/TABLE] [/SPOILER] "We need to delay them long enough that they won't get to their next destination before night fall. It's risky camping outdoors with the cold. I could call in a deluge of water to soak the dogs. They'd have to get them dried up before they leave or the dogs...

[OOC] Quickleaf's Rime of the Frostmaiden [recruiting 1 player]

@Neurotic I think you have to post in order for us to continue. Do what you think is best. If you use poison, though, your character will have to keep that to himself. Edit: I should have read your post closer, I'll post IC

D&D 5E (2024) Messed Up an Encounter. Level 8 PCs.

Here is the text from daylight: “If any of this spell's area overlaps with an area of Darkness created by a spell of level 3 or lower, that other spell is dispelled.” So it is dispelled. But now that I read it, it says the OTHER spell is dispelled. darkness: If any of this spell’s area...

D&D 5E (2024) Messed Up an Encounter. Level 8 PCs.

Yeah, shouldn’t matter. From the description it just gets rid of the sections where it overlaps. So you’ll have the half crescents of daylight where the darkness neutralized it. Which I think persists even after darkness goes away?? The description says that section of the daylight is dispelled

D&D 5E (2024) Messed Up an Encounter. Level 8 PCs.

Okay, I just confirmed that upcasting changes the effective level of the spell. So an upcast darkness spell is considered 3rd level if cast from a 3rd level slot. It will, therefore, automatically dispel daylight in that area. It’s a very easy and reliable defense. You have at least two...

D&D 5E (2024) Messed Up an Encounter. Level 8 PCs.

Daylight as sunlight makes so much sense but it really does hose vampires. Despite buffing them. Darkness cast at 3rd level should automatically counter daylight, no? “If any of this spell's area overlaps with an area of Darkness created by a spell of level 3 or lower, that other spell is...

D&D 5E (2024) Messed Up an Encounter. Level 8 PCs.

You didn’t screw up. they just turn to mist and fled only to return newly buffed and informed of the PCs abilities. Right? Right? Ps: I didn’t think daylight was true sunlight. Did that change in dnd2024? Edit. I just read the new version. Vampires are kind of screwed.
