Master Invisible w/Familiar and Touch Spells

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Master Invisible w/Familiar and Touch Spells" He does if the familiar is touching him and he uses the shared spell ability. I could really go either way on it, but as a mage I wouldn't want my familiar sitting next to anything after it attacked them. Most foes can take down...

    Oldest Natural Race in D&D

Devils, Demons, Celestials. As far as "mortals" (ie those with an actual lifespan), probably dragons- they can go past 1200 years according to the books with no problems (heck they just get tougher as they go). They don't really have a known life span (most campaign worlds don't have a recent...

    Outsiders get damage reduction?

Hell hounds are outsiders, they don't have DR. Howlers are outsiders, they don't have DR. Lillends are outsiders, they don't have DR. Mephits are outsiders, they don't have DR. Nightmares are outsiders, they don't have DR. .... I'll stop I think you get the idea. (I only went from H-N in the...

    Charm Person

Thats basically what happens in my game. When someone gets charmed they usually resort to grappling people, or trying to break it up (usually easier for a mage type to pull off). If both sides seem intent of killing each other, then it gets a bit uglier. IF he grapples someone, then everyone...

    Sneak Attacks!

Creatures don't even need intellegence. You hurt anything really bad, and its going to strike at the thing that hurt it worst: You. Sneak attack isn't overly powerful. After countless sessions I've seen it do tons of damage maybe twice. Rogues don't get more than 2 attack without Haste until...

    odd idea

Mills Lane Voice: "I'll allow it!" I don't see why not, though you'd better have some feats to protect against AoO. In the end you'll look cool, but realistically they'll probably just pick up any weapons disarmed and attack you anyway. Sundering is a different story, they'll just have to all...

    Pulling out someone elses weapon.

Stealing someones weapon in combat is definately some variation on attacking objects or disarm, not any sort of pickpocket attempt. A great fighter should have a better chance of holding onto his weapons than someone who can't fight. I tend to favor the disarm rules, but they don't really work...

Can a character ever be denied the 5' step?

But you technically still get a 5' step, its just that 5' is now 1/2 a foot. The only way to really deny someone a 5' step is to hold, grapple, etc. As far as multiple hamstrings, I don't know how many hamstrings you've got, but I can't really see how multiple hamstrings would work. After 2...

Who is better DAMAGE MACHINE a Fighter or a Barbarian or a Rogue?

Overall probably the barbarian on a round to round basis, though the fighter might win by having better AC and being able to land more hits. Generically speaking the Barb gets essentially +2/+2 (rage) on all his attacks (maybe +2/+3); whereas the fighter gets +1/+2 (WF/WS). At higher levels the...

This seems too powerful for the cost...

"Instrument of the Winds (MoF p161) When the proper tune is plated (which requires a DC15 Perform[Lute] check), this materwork lute (+2 circumstance bonus on Perform [Lute] checks) summons a large elemental as with the summon monster VI spell. Caster Level:11th; Prereq:Craft Wonderous Item...

Remind me again why this is a bad idea.

The last game I played in had a fighter/rogue that was basically exactly what the original post was talking about. With a little multiclassing its not too hard to make anything you can think of. If you wanted to change the actual classes, its doable, but much harder to balance. The Urban Ranger...

Hill Giant errata from the sage....

I've always hated that table. It basically says "stupid races can't ever be smart." Say your race has an avg Int of 9. Not too bad. Same as a half orc right? Nope sorry according to the table if you put an 18 in Int then you have a 14. If you put in a 16 you have a 12. Somehow you've got -4...

    The aggravating five foot move.

Just to clairify, PHB p134 "Readying an action is a standard action, so you can move as well." PHB p127 "As a general rule, you can do as much with a partial action as you could with a standard action minus a move."

    spell power +1

I never understood why Spell Power stacked. Its not like DCs don't get insanely high already with SplFocus and GreaterSF, coupled with Stat boosting items and the like.

But then again halflings are really flexible, you can bend them at odd angles and fit them together well.

    need help picking spells

Pick spells you'll always want for some reason or another. Sleep is a bad idea for one of your like 4 spells you'll ever have at first level, since its basically useless after 6th level or so. Mage armor should probably be avoided since you can eventually make/obtain better Bracers of Armor...

    Rogue/Barbarian sneak attack while raging?

Caliban has a better grasp of the rules than the people who made the game in many cases. Makes me wonder if he has a law degree. As far as expertise I'd give him more the range of 98%. Theres a lot of clueless people that post from time to time. As far as the # of posts, some people have been...

    Hardness and Sunder

Improved Sunder is ridiculous. The only thing that stops people from taking it is the fact that most weapons can be destroyed without it. I'm not a big fan of Sunder myself, but most of my PC's are too greedy to destroy +2 swords when they could kill the guy and sell them off at 4k+ a pop.

    New Feat? Improved Multiplier?

A mod will pick it up and move it before long. As far as the feat: Seems a little light in requirements considering every fighter will probably have those requirements by 12th level. Normally it takes a prestige class (and usually multiple levels) to get that ability. I'd throw in some wierd...
