    Character Death

If your character dies, you come back a level down. If you retire your character (Ex: I can't be a paladin in this group, it's just not working) then you can come back in at your old XP total. In both cases, new characters gain WBL. Your old PC isn't going to miss his gear. The rest...

Questions to ask my players-Making sure I am still a good DM

When I DM, I periodically send out emails to the group asking for feedback. All I ask is: 1) What did you like? 2) What did you dislike? 3) What would you have done differently?

    Dealing with a devil

Magic is cursed. Most of the mages in this world went insane and were either put down or destroyed themselves. Those that are still alive have stopped using magic. Edit: We don't know if sealing the prime will lift the curse on magic or not.

    Dealing with a devil

That is a viable plan. Assuming we can find the rest of the rituals. We do know that each ritual takes an hour. We don't know much more than that. For all we know, attempting to close a portal or banish the devils may be like firing flares off into the sky. was being turned on by the...

    Dealing with a devil

So, in the near future, it looks like the party is going to try and make a deal with a devil. In exchange for the soul of the one PC's brother, which we found trapped in a gem, they'll give us protection as we attempt to enter into the haunted capital city and seal the gaping portal to the...

We have a Spirit Shaman looking for PRC advice

What if you changed Wild Soul (CM) to work with divine magic instead of arcane? Then you could play up the whole Scottish fairies thing? Master of Radiance would work well with undead. So would dandu's suggestion of sacred exorcist. Sacred Exorcist would also give the spirit shaman turn...

We have a Spirit Shaman looking for PRC advice

What is the concept/idea for this player's character? Personality, goals, history, hopes, fears, etc? Or is this PC just another dice rolling proxy? What about Master of Radiance (LM)? You can go pew pew with your ancient Egyptian laser beams! Stormlord (CD) lets you eat thunder and crap...

Which deities and pantheons have you used in your D&D fantasy settings?

I usually just use the PHB deities. However, I have always been upset that in the core group of deities that there isn't a trickster. Yea, there's Olidammara but I'm looking for something like a Coyote or Raven. Or The Trickster from Thief The Dark Project. So I added one to the last game I...

    Does teleportation count as "movement"?

The only thing I can think of is the clause in Dimension Door which says you can't take any other actions until your next turn. Could your DM be thinking that applies to all teleportation?

    MST3K

I ... I ... that is awesome! In some episodes I did go through some of the MST3K fan sites that discussed the more obscure rifts. Very helpful for various people/celebrities/musicians I didn't know or remember. :)

    MST3K

<nssp>NSSP: Mystery Science Theater 3000 has always been one of my favorite TV shows. I loved watching it growing up on Comedy Central and later Sci-Fi. And so, a few years ago, I embarked on a journey to watch every episode. I have finished my journey. I have ventured from The Crawling Eye...

    Paladin behavior question

In my game, I think the biggest strike against the paladin would be that the paladin executed a helpless prisoner. If your paladin is vanilla, then I would probably have an agent of their deity appear in a dream to them and the paladin gets scolded and reminded that the forces of good are...

The old LG vs CN problem….

Is this a small part of a larger trend in the entire campaign? Because it sounds to me that the party is breaking into LG vs CN camps often. What I would do is let the party rescue their friend, they go to leave and the brigands break the deal and attack. Now the party can get their...

    Exalted Deeds/Vile Darkness - Broken?

I own and have used both BoVD and BoED as a DM and a character. Neither of them are outright horrible but neither of them are incredibly awesome. With any D&D source book a little common sense will go a long way in getting the most out of a book. And, most importantly, talk with your DM...

    earth based magic class?

I feel it's pointless for us to debate the merits of Stonelord when we don't know if that's even close to what balmz was looking for. Also, Dandu, I feel that you and I will probably never see eye to eye on Stonelords. Mechanically they won't measure up to a CoDzilla. But I played a...

    earth based magic class?

While not a full blown mage, what about the Stonelord PrC in Complete Warrior? They get some spell like abilities with earth flavor. For instance, they can use mud to create a potion of Cure Moderate Wounds and can summon earth elementals.
