The Willingness to Embrace Joy in Things.

It's hard, and I get it. My particular challenge is that I worry that even trying to engage in discussion is just asking to get sucked into a culture war debate. I would actually discuss the flaws in Star Trek Discovery or The Last Jedi or The Acolyte or the recent Doctor Who if I weren't...

D&D General The Resurrection of Mike Mearls Games.

That's around. There's a monster in Spelljammer that has a brain extraction attack, if it takes a PC to 0 hp with it, that PC dies and their brain gets extracted. No save. Party got unlucky and I landed it on the Rogue. While running Light Of Xaryxis.

D&D General The Resurrection of Mike Mearls Games.

Yeah, I always use average damage, double it on a crit. The only exception might be spells or breath weapons. As a DM, I too want the joy of rolling a fistful of d6s

D&D General Do You Use a DM Screen?

To be honest, if I start running games in person soon, I'll definitely be using a screen. My laptop is... unreliable and I can't afford to replace it, so I'll have to go to old school pencil and paper

    D&D 5E (2024) Regarding the new PHB!

    Don't spoil the ending!

D&D General Do You Use a DM Screen?

Yeah, I'll use a DM screen, but all my combat rolls are in the open. I can't use portrait screens, too tall for me, has to be landscape.

    D&D 5E (2024) 3,000 Player's Handbooks Available At Gen Con

I don't doubt, given the book is done and off to printers that WotC would love to let us get the book earlier, this is a logistical problem. 3K books for GenCon is a drop in the ocean to how many they're printing and selling everywhere else. Also, man I miss Gen Con.

    D&D 5E (2024) Could we get a Bloomburrow (Redwall) setting for 5.24?

So, for the brewers, and as a general topic ... how do you scale a game when the players are tiny animals? Do you just scale up the world so a mouse is considered medium or have the PCs be tiny?

    D&D 5E (2024) Standard vs Alternate covers (+)

Alt. I was waffling back and forth over which to get, but once I thought I couldn't get the alt, I was disappointed, lol, so that told me what I really wanted.

D&D 5E (2014) My failed attempt to preorder the revised core rulebooks

Almost certainly. And they changed my order to the alt cover without any problems, so thanks again for the tip, or I'd have left it.

    D&D 5E (2024) Could we get a Bloomburrow (Redwall) setting for 5.24?

While turning into animalfolk upon arriving in Bloomburrow is kinda a way for WOTC to have their cake and eat it, I do love that we got Otter Ral, and it does tickle me with the idea of a multiversal campaign passing through Bloomburrow so all the PCs have to discover their fursonas. It's a bit...

D&D 5E (2024) What is your oppinion of 5.24 so far?

While the accuracy of survey data is certainly disputable, I still believe it's a far better view of DnD players in aggregate than anything here or previously attempted. I grow tired of aspersions and conspiracy theories leveled at the designers when they make decisions people disagree with.

Spoilers Star Wars: The Acolyte [Spoilers]

That made sense to me. Qimir instantly knew the difference between the twins, but Sol cannot, it's a sign of how twisted and in denial Sol is over his emotions about Osha. Indara knew it from the start. What I like about the Acolyte was that it ... played fair ... there is that tragedy of...

D&D 5E (2024) What is your oppinion of 5.24 so far?

Ultimately, yes, more conservative (as in the word, not the politics) designs won out. I get the disappointment, I was hoping for wildshape templates. That said, there is an advantage, the more radical the changes, the less useful older content is and the more it's an actual edition change...

    D&D General Killing Gods

Depends on the setting. Eberron? No. I like that the gods are unknown there. Forgotten Realms, where they've been known to walk the world? Sure.

Spoilers Star Wars: The Acolyte [Spoilers]

I think I realized that I stopped caring about the twins and therefore a lot of the last episode fell flat for me. Loved the Qimir and Sol duel. Was indifferent to most of the rest.

D&D 5E (2024) What is your oppinion of 5.24 so far?

There's a bit of both. What I've seen of the books indicates that they are going to be much more readable and accessible. OTOH, it's a weighty tome now!

D&D 5E (2014) Baldur's Gate 3 won so many awards that it started to "affect development"

Definitely, the gameplay made it look like Bioware was taking more influence from Dark Souls esque playstyle (not to say it is going to play that way), which will help differentiate it. Also agreed that both DA:I and ME:A would have been helped if they'd had all the romanceable companions be...

D&D 5E (2014) Baldur's Gate 3 won so many awards that it started to "affect development"

I called BG3 my game of the decade, and it has raised the bar by an insane margin on both Larian and other RPG developers. Poor Bioware, already in trouble, Dragon Age Veilguard has the impossible task of righting a sinking ship and scaling raised expectations.

D&D 5E (2014) My failed attempt to preorder the revised core rulebooks

... Thanks for telling me this, because I double-checked and they've got the alt-arts back in stock for preorder. Now I have to decide whether or not to change it.
