    D&D 5E (2024) Monster Manual 2025 Elementals

Damage still seems a bit lightweight to me. I'd be looking around DPR 180 for CR 22. Hit points also appear a tad low. Bit weird (to me) that the Lich gets 42 Hit Dice But the Elemental Cataclysm gets 20. What is the point of having the bigger monsters using bigger dice if WotC lower the Hit...

D&D 5E (2024) Dungeons & Dragons 2025 Monster Manuals show up in the wild.

Thank you for the answer. Disappointing they haven't upped it, even though the other changes are slight improvements. Not be long before I have my own copy and I can see the 'damage' (literally and figuratively).

D&D 5E (2024) Deadliest Monsters in the 2025 Monster Manual

They have said this is a 'new' monster but is it not simply an update of 4E's "Godforged Colossus"? As regards the lore, I suppose having things god-related makes sense at CR 20 or above, isn't the Blob of Annihilation the remains of a dead god...or something like that?

If you are still answering questions can you tell me the Bite damage for the Tarrasque please? Interested to know if they upped it from 2014's: 36 (4d12+10).

D&D 5E (2024) Deadliest Monsters in the 2025 Monster Manual

Nerd Immersion did a video revealing the numbers of monsters per challenge rating. Unfortunately no CR 26, 27, 28 or 29 monsters. The only new CR 20+ monsters seem to be: Animal Lords CR 20 Arch Hags CR 21 Elemental Cataclysm CR ? Blob of Annihilation CR 23 Colossus CR 25 Was hoping to see a...

D&D 5E (2024) Deadliest Monsters in the 2025 Monster Manual

After watching Pack Tactic's review I am a bit more confident that the higher CR monsters have been given a decent boost. Although the Tarrasque's Breath Weapon only has a range of 150 ft...but at least it has one.

D&D 5E (2024) Deadliest Monsters in the 2025 Monster Manual

Sounds like they upped the Solar damage (from 2d8+6 + 6d8 radiant) to 4d8+6 + 8d8 radiant and increased the save DC (from 15) to 21 to avoid death at 100 HP or less. A typical (2014) arrow of slaying adds +33 damage if the target fails the save. So 60 + 33 is close to 100. But not entirely...

Monsters & More: An In-Depth Review of the 2025 D&D Monster Manual

Two questions. 1. Does it have the monsters listed by Challenge Rating somewhere? 2. What is the bite damage of the Tarrasque...if you are allowed to answer? If you can't, can you say if it's higher than in 2014.

    D&D 5E (2014) Lesser Vorpal Sword

Been a while since I played 3E but that sounds more like it. Wondered what the heck I was thinking. 🙈

    D&D 5E (2014) Lesser Vorpal Sword

A 1 in 400 chance of decapitation is a bit rubbish. Maybe make the confirmation roll 'your level or less on a d20'. Also base vorpal swords (even without the confirmation roll) are relatively weak - I suggest having swords of sharpness and vorpal swords always deal maximum damage on each hit...

    D&D 5E (2014) What is a PC's "CR"?

In my experience its baseline CR = 2/3rds level. However, PCs (especially at higher level) have the capacity to go "Nova" for a round or two wherein their CR is probably equal to their Level. So 2/3rds level as a baseline, but the PCs still have the 'safety net' of going nova to skew the CR...

Thing is, DM's are far less likely to use them if they are not in the book at all.

    D&D 5E (2024) Monster Manual 2025 Aberrations & Oozes Video

It's interesting they mention the Blob of Annihilation as generating so much buzz. Must admit it has also been the monster I have been most interested in learning about too. I think it's good the book has a bunch of new monsters to get people excited. I would have loved to have seen at least...

Thanks for the discussion Chaosmancer, really enjoyed chatting with you and apologies if you thought I was ever veering into "strawman" territory - that was never my intentions. All the best buddy.

D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The New Monster Manual’s Ancient Gold Dragon

The issue is not that the dragon won't hit, its that it hits front line Martial characters a good bit less than 'stay at the back' Caster types. Thus its ability to Banish martial characters easily* unevenly weakens the Party's fragility. *Unless they have Cha Proficiency saves or the...

D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The New Monster Manual’s Ancient Gold Dragon

That's not what the Encounter XP Budgets tell us. A CR 30 Monster is a Highly Difficult encounter for 8 Level 20 Characters A CR 15 Monster is a Highly Difficult encounter for 5 Level 10 Characters

D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The New Monster Manual’s Ancient Gold Dragon

I would agree my experience of high/epic level play is not universal, but I would say its representative of the majority of campaigns. I do not expect to see a lot of Low Magic Epic Tier campaigns; those two things seem largely (though not exclusively) at odds with each other. Therefore, since...
