    D&D 5E (2014) The DM's Helper...all the twists and cul-de-sacs of a DM's mind.

While I commend the spirit of your post, it's incredibly wide open and difficult to answer. I'd have a look around the forum, there are a whole bunch of threads that, while a bit more specific, have lots of advice on DMing style. Most, not all, but most of the posters here are DMs, so it's a...

[UPDATED] A Savage D&D 5E Campaign Setting From the Makers of PRINCES OF THE APOCALYPSE

I already have the 13th Age version of this, and while it's cool beans, I sure won't be springing for a 5e book. I wonder if there's some way to discount the pdf for previous backers. If you bought a book in the previous KS, you got all three (PF, 4e, 13A) pdfs for free. Not looking for that...

    Unusual Sandwiches

Peanut butter and cucumber is a great combo. Sticky sweet with some juicy crunch, less tangy but more fresh tasting than pickle.

D&D 5E (2014) Why do wizards STILL have to use daggers, etc.?

The wizard in my group likes using his dagger. Granted, it's +2 and does an extra 2d6 fire damage on a hit, among other things, but hey, wizard with a dagger. :)

D&D 5E (2014) Holy crap, I had to share this find...

And that's a $50 bag. The $20 bag in the OP isn't likely to be very sturdy, either...

D&D 5E (2014) [Princes of the Apocolypse] Random Encounters way to hard?

And even then, one might be surprised what capable players can do. My players were a level behind the adventure's expected level when they took on Scarlet Moon Keep. It was tough, but the managed. They then went down to the fire level of the temple, now 3 levels behind expected. They talked...

Unearthed Arcana Psionics Hits Unearthed Arcana

Well, I'm happy for the people that like psionics in their D&D. Personally, I'm as excited about this as I would an article on how to convert F.A.T.A.L. to D&D 5e. :p Looking forward to the August article, it can only go up from here. :)

D&D 5E (2014) Phandelver and Red Larch....I'm rethinking my approach to towns

Just like you don't focus on the dull parts of a walking through a dungeon, neither should you do so in civilization. Personally, I don't think of the party being in a town as "in between adventures." Then again, I don't really delineate the beginnings and endings of adventures in a campaign...

D&D 5E (2014) MUSING: An Evergreen, static Fifth Edition...

I expected it. They said this was what they were doing for support before release. I remember the threads, a number of people applauded it, others didn't like it or didn't believe them ("it's WotC, it's in their nature to spit out dozens of books per year").

New D&D Survey: What Do you Want From Older Editions?

D'oh, I missed that. I checked None of the Above for the classes, and wrote in the notes that I'd rather see them as archetypes than new classes.

D&D 5E (2014) MUSING: An Evergreen, static Fifth Edition...

Personally, I wouldn't buy anything else, so that suits me fine. I have shelves of material from past editions that I can use with 5e, if I need it. Tidbits from UA every month is good enough for new stuff.

Congratulations to the 2015 ENnies Nominees!

PotA made the cut, but HotDQ was what was nominated? Huh, whodathunk?

D&D 5E (2014) My Players Didn't Like 5e :( Help Me Get Them Into It!!

I had this problem a few years ago. 4e came out, we played it for about 6 months and one of the players really didn't enjoy it. So I switched to Hackmaster, as the new version of that had just released its basic rules. A different player didn't like it. So I asked what they could agree on...

    D&D 5E (2014) [+] What are your favorite things about 5e?

Check out one of the heavy hitters in the MM. Their power is so great, it infuses into the environment. Honestly, my favorite thing about 5e is that everyone in the group loves the game. We have someone that doesn't like 4e, someone that doesn't like 3e/PF, and someone that isn't a fan of...

D&D 5E (2014) No love for the hand axe?

I never said it was a bad weapon. It beats a brick of cheese in the I'm-going-to-hurt-you department. :) Just saying, there is a reason for the proliferation of swords prior to the industrial revolution. A hand axe should be a feasible weapon, but it needn't be comparable.

    D&D 5E (2014) Disengage Action

Realistic? Moving about while fighting is more akin to real battle than standing next to one foe, and he to you, for the entire fight. And like CapnZapp said, it costs you and action to just move and ignore OA. Rogues and fighters might still be able to attack after using Disengage, but...

D&D 5E (2014) Theatre of the Mind or Miniatures?

My D&D players like using minis, and while I don't quite have Curt's collection, I do have hundreds of minis, so I might as well use them. My Savage Worlds game, on the other hand, has no minis or grid. And it works fine.

D&D 5E (2014) No love for the hand axe?

Are we talking about weapons or tools? They're two different things. An axe is a great tool, but not exactly the perfect weapon.

D&D 5E (2014) Unsandboxing Princes of the Apocalypse

2.5, actually. That's the scale of the other two Sword Coast maps that it hooks up to. Someone at WotC messed up when they told Mike to make it 10 mi/hex.

D&D 5E (2014) Unsandboxing Princes of the Apocalypse

You could do it that way. But the temple is a single temple, built by dwarves. The fane was built beneath it by drow. Nothing wrong with changing that up, but that's how it was written.
