Slow, haste, and boots of speed.

That was my specific question actually. The answer was there is no save needed (just like a dispel magic that always works). Personally I don't have a problem with it, since haste is powerful anyway, its the only real weakness of the spell.

Counterspell. Has anyone even seen it used in their game!?

Its never come up for me personally. Against most wizards you would have to go first before they cast haste, or you'll lose out. Even then having the right spells memorized is pretty rare. With the FR feats you might stand a chance of having the right spells, and as long as you could counter...

    Polymorphing Magic Items

Hard to say, though I lean towards no just because most things (ie creatures) that get polymorphed turn into a regular version of that thing (ie base stats for the race, no powers, etc). Though the rules don't say much either way, so theres no real solid rule that I'm aware of.

Slow, haste, and boots of speed.

Actually I asked this very question of the Sage a while back. There is no save, the slow effectively dispels the haste on anyone who has it up, and ends both effects (which is the case with any spells that "counter and dispel" other spells). So heres what happens: Wizard is normal, can cast...

Infinitely Opening Locks and Bashing Doors

There was a real discussion? All I remember was anal sex references.

Balancing question about monks unarmed attacks

Basically a multiclassed monk has his BAB and his Monk Unarmed BAB, which are seperate from each other. So if he has +4 from Monk and +3 from Fighter he gets either +4/+1 or +7/+2.

    What is a suimulacra?

Neat idea, but you might want to adapt it a bit since he wouldn't heal without a large amount of cash, can't be raised, and can't gain levels.

    Question about double weapons

Very rarely. I always wonder at all these mistakes people account to the Sage, but all I get is Halfling Outrider, who actually was originally written (stupidly) as having no BAB. People forget skip doesn't errata, he only clairfies, occassionally with an opinion about a possible errata.

Is Wall of Thorns subject to damage reduction?

Raw dragon troll flesh... yummy. New at Burger King. "It would be flame broiled, but it just wont cook! Eat it before it can regrow! Disclaimer:Not responsible for partially eaten burgers growing back into full size trolls in your garbage bag."

Is Wall of Thorns subject to damage reduction?

Thats because half-red dragon trolls are really, really, really hard to kill. You're best bet is to beat them into submission and then drown them in a pool of water or something similar, since most people don't carry the gallons of acid needed to kill just one.

    Whirlwind and Heavy Armor ...

Well that makes 3 of us. I'm just saying he's not often wrong, and he clairifies his answers well (opinion, by the rules, or whatever).

    Confused about tower shields

Small? It offers 3/4 cover! Maybe the halflings Shield spell, but for a person its gotta be pretty big. And it takes a free action to move it on your turn so its not too mobile. Making it as mobile as a real shield makes it godly powerful. +7 AC thats cover against everything and stops magic...

    Beating the Dead Harmed Horse

Anyone else notice that in NeverWinter Nights they gave Harm a Will save? Just thought it was funny when I saw it, though hardly unexpected. They can put it in a computer game that uses D&D as a basis, but they can't add the two lines it would take to errata the godawful thing (admittedly they...

    Whirlwind and Heavy Armor ...

Didn't that happen back in '63? Caliban can be wrong, but in almost (mind you almost!) every case where he was wrong, the rules were poorly written and vague. Or he just got a sentence he read up his butt that he couldn't let go of and lost touch with reality. Still I trust his rulings up with...

    Movement and attacks with haste

It also avoids situations like "I cast Summon Monster, ok I still have a partial action left, so I (attack, move, cast another spell)." Only his spells still not complete. And haste has always favored spell casters. Lets see one more attack or one more Disintigrate? Which is going to be better...

    Movement and attacks with haste

Which is explained in detail on the next page. The thing you're having problems with is that the general rules don't consider having haste up. Normally you DO need a FA to use all your attacks. If you have Haste up, its not a normal situation, you get more than one standard action that round...

    Confused about tower shields

Ahh but its INVISIBLE cover! Oh so I keep hearing. Since the opponent can't see it, they don't know to get around it because they don't know its there. I argue they know something is there (like say most animals and a pane of glass) and they can try to get around it.

    Enchantments, charms and compulsions

None that come to mind. There might be a few odd ball ones, but overall you'd be immune to echantments.

    Death from natural causes?

I tend to agree. The spirit of the rules is basically when your time is up nothing, nothing can ever bring you back. Thus the whole appeal of becoming undead. If Wish and Miracle can't do it, I don't see why Reincarnation should be able to. Why would old evil archmages strive for lichdom? They...
