    Critical Hits

Or wasting an important NPC. Its too easy to deal max damage if you just multiply the results and not the dice. The odds of doing 36 damage with a Greatax on 3d12 is fairly small, unless you multiply 1d12 by 3, in which case its really easy to do.

    Familiar recommendations?

I'll refrain from the obvious comments on men playing pretty, vain women characters. I also vote for the pseudodragon, or maybe even a plain old cat (not a black one neccessarily).

    FRCS Drow

Go with the FRCS. According to the DMG male Drow get a -2 and female Drow get a +2, but FRCS gives the whole race a +2 rather than make it different by sex (it was the only race to do so).

    Master of the Secret Sound

Haven't seen the Dragon, but 5th level spells is a high requirement for any class (only Heirophants and Archmages really have those sorts of requirements IIRC). Not to mention theres no feats and really low skills. By level 5 you could have all the requirements except the spells casting. Seems a...

Forsaker = cool and unique NPC but really crappy PC

Specialist Wiz & 0 lvl spells?

Just ran into this in my new camapaign (character is a Transmuter). If you have any of other books (MoF I know has some at least), you can just swap out the 0 lvls you can't use for some from the other books. He dropped Ray of Frost for one of the Evocation variants in MoF if I recall. Otherwise...

    I second the motion.

    Familiar Trade-Off?

Trading unused abilities for feats and the like is always a bad idea. As was said above, what about the fighter who doesn't want Heavy armor and wants to cash in Shield, Hvy/Med Armor? What about the guy with a double axe who wants to change out Shield Prof? How about the guy who decides not to...

    Ability increasing magic items...

That actually doesn't look too bad IMO. It makes it expensive enough that it wouldn't be cheap or easy to do. Depends on what your DM allows, at least until the ELHB is finalized and sets the rules in stone for handling them.

Does a Ring of Counterspells work on area spells?

The ring of counterspells wouldn't work on area effect spells since area spells are never cast on a person, just an area. If you want to rule 0 it feel free, but be aware that it makes the ring much more useful and powerful. As it is, its only good against a few select spells (dominate person...

    Monsters w/ Levels

A goblin sorceror would get max hp at 1st level (as per the NPC section fo the DMG). Most goblins are 1st Level Warriors (NPC class) and get 1d8. It seems like NPC classes don't start with max hps, whereas PC classed NPCs do.

    Retributive Strike

FRCS. Basically once per day, if an opponent has dealt damage to you, the next round you can use a retrubitive strike to deal maximun damage to them. You must declare before attacking, etc, etc and it has to be on the next round and they must've dealt damage to you. Thing is its not all that...

Read through the Divination spells. I think you'll find your answer there.

    New spells known for sorcerers

Extra Spell I think its called (from T&B). And yes all sorcerors really should go for a +1 spellcasting PrC. After all you have no class abilities (well maybe your familiar I guess).

    Adamantite Bypassing DR?

Not that it would matter to half the people in this god-awful argument anyway. After all just because a group of people made the game, they don't know how the rules work. I agree this discussion has long since lapsed into pointlessness. Play it however you want, it doesn't really matter...

    Polymorph and Spell-Like Abilities

Spell like abilities have no components, thats what makes them different than spells. Otherwise they follow all the same rules, AoO, Conc checks, etc.

    Ability increasing magic items...

LOL. Don't post while half asleep kids. As far as bonus's above +6, it seems the ELHB will probably cover that (from what I've seen anyway). So barring magic items that aren't official and feats that aren't official, the current rules set doesn't handle those type of items very well.

Disarming a Bow with a Melee Weapon?

Could've fooled me. Next time you ask for input don't put down every suggestion people give you. We gave a few rules variants and different ideas, but you didn't like any of them. As far as Sundering magic bows, I think its pretty easy to have an equally, if not more magical sword. Since bows...

Trap Search, circumstance bonus for ...

Technically the DM can never tell the players how they feel. They are immune to Intimidates, Diplomacy, and the like. Says so right in the book. As far as the exotic trap, it really depends on the situation. Maybe the trap can't be disarmed in the usual way, with a successful Disable Device, the...

    Retributive Strike

Well you ARE talking about a Scythe, nothing can survive a crit from one in most cases anyway. The damage does multiply (just like a Smite). Using a x4 Crit weapon probably isn't a good comparison, much less a flaming burst one. Odds are that attacks going to kill something without ANY strength...
