Which books bring you to tears?

Absolutely. Gads that's a good story. Also, surprisingly, I got a little choked up by the latest Harry Potter. You may feel free to laugh at me now. :heh:

    Petals around the Rose

Numbers aren't relevant to this puzzle, really. I couldn't figure it out, but I got it from the posts here. I think it's a bit of a cheat. Bleh.

    Refresh per level abilities

That's a good idea. If they reset over time OR when you leveled it could work.

15 Second House Rule: Charging Lances

This is the rule GURPS uses, but in that system horses have MUCH higher strengths than humans. I don't think it's worth it in D&D.

Rolecall for the Dead - Bring out your dead!

I've only killed 1 PC: Tiberius - Halfling Cleric - Killed by Death Touch domain ability of evil orc cleric. In all my years of GMing, only 1 PC death. I need to quit slacking. :D

    Planescape: A Hopeless Beginning

Krikit looks the huge woman up and down carefully before replying. I don't know about you, he says, but I was sold into slavery for being on the wrong end of a political disagreement. He shrugs before continuing. Mine is a fairly risky occupation, but I never expected to be banished from the...

    Refresh per level abilities

I voted "sometimes" specifically because of Action Points. I don't think a wizard should stop being able to cast spells just because he retired and doesn't fight monsters any more. APs, on the other hand, should reset in this way to encourage expending them.

    Cave of the Spiders OOC

Ferrix? Lord Raven? Maybe I wasn't clear in the IC thread but feel free to post. Your characters are arriving quickly and I'm not going to jump the PCs for at least a couple of minutes. :D

How Did/Will You Name Your Kids?

As long as you don't name your kids like these people.

How Did/Will You Name Your Kids?

Probably via a little kid (you, maybe?) with a head cold: Samanthana -> 'Mantha (little kid pronunciation) -> Bantha (Head cold) Makes perfect sense to me. :)

How Did/Will You Name Your Kids?

It doesn't matter what you name your kids. What's important is the embarrasing nickname you can hang on them. My kids have pretty standard real names, but I invariable call them "peanut head" and "the monkey". My daughter Karen (age 7) has recently informed me that I can continue to call her...

So many people with ZERO postcount.

Page 7. Wow. Last time I checked I was in the double-digit pages. That's what happens when you get into a couple of games, I guess. :) As to the original question, I think a lot of people sign up for accounts, check the site for a while and then just kind of wander off. I know I've done that...

PC Tales of Woe, I caused a TPK!

Well we don't blame you Voadam. You did a great job being in command. It was a fun game and any of us could have piped up with "Maybe we should rest up some more." That's one of the problems with PbP: It's easy to lose track of exactly what's going on. Memo to me: Don't make archer...

    Amusing recent auto-correction...

I once saw a website for an electric scooter called the Goblin. Apparently they originally called it the Elf but then changed their mind and did a massive search and replace on the page. Why do I think this? Because there were phrases like "you can do it yoursgoblin" and "sgoblin-propelled". :D

    Tips for a long-lasting D&D campaign?

What Glassjaw said. As the GM there's only so much you can do. A GM can kill a campaign, but only the players can make it live. Having said that, I think the best thing the GM can do is, as Percivellian said, make sure there's something for every player. I'm currently struggling with this...

What do you store your books in?

Books that are used regularly go into a plastic milk crate, along with my campaign binders, miniatures and dice. Strong and easy to carry. The rest are just on a shelf. When I have to move them they go in cardboard boxes, but that's not very often.

OOC - Planescape: A Hopeless Beginning

Sorry I shouldn't have said you can't use your bard ranks to raise Open Locks, just that it costs double. That's how I understand it, yes. Of course in this game it's up to Eluvan to make the call.

    Planescape: A Hopeless Beginning

Krikit shakes his head. No, no. It's just that I'd rather not argue with an ogre at this time. He flashes a winning smile. He's a bit bigger than I am.

OOC - Planescape: A Hopeless Beginning

As I understand it, that is correct. But you still have to track what skill points you are using to buy the skill. So you can't use skills gained from a Bard level to raise your Open Locks skill, for example.

    Planescape: A Hopeless Beginning

Krikit skitters back out through the hole and makes his way to the ground, resuming the pleasing shape of a gnome on the way. "Well, the guard's still alive," he announces. "Maybe we should let him and this Emenukaris's people work out their differences before we make any claims."
