    D&D 5E (2024) Here's The New 2024 Player's Handbook Wizard Art

So what would she need to look like a wizard then? She has the magic staff and a spellbook. Right there, to me, thats a big differentiator from other magic-using classes. If I’m trying to guess what class a magic user in a picture is, the staff and spellbook are usually the biggest give away...

    D&D 5E (2024) Here's The New 2024 Player's Handbook Wizard Art

She’s a robed caster, with staff and a spellbook, using obvious levitation spells while protected by a magic shield. What else does she need to look like a wizard? A beard and pointy hat? I mean, you are more than welcome not to like this (or any other piece of art). But saying it doesn’t...

Nope. Pretty sure you looked through the viewfinder, and had to adjust for the fact the lens was lower. Google tells me the first SLR camera was 1936. Edit: Even as a kid in the 80’s, there still were low end cameras that weren’t SLR. Edit to my Edit: further googling shows it’s more...

I can understand that. Although I don’t mind the shift to more heroic fantasy, I can certainly see that it is there. But Levitating and Flying have been in the wizards list since as far back as I can remember. Calling out that she has those spells specifically as newly problematic feels weird.

    D&D 5E (2024) Here's The New 2024 Player's Handbook Wizard Art

Obviously personal style tastes vary. But I really don't understand the criticisms about her floating/flying. Levitate is a 2nd level spell. Fly is only 3rd. She's a wizard. There's two (relatively low level) spells right there on the Wizard list that can do that. Why is showing her using...

Well, that certainly cleared that up. What specifically are they leaving out that you want?

What sort of support do you think that DM's with decades of experience need that they aren't being given?

The Rise And Fall Of Evil Genius Games

Thank you for the time and effort you put into putting this all together! As a fan of the EDH rule system, it certainly is disheartening.

D&D General JMISBEST's questions. Most of them about campaign ideas that either he or A GM he knows has and wants to know what people think

Well, it's as good an explanation as any. Where is this "10% of the population is normally clerics" number coming from? That seems insanely high for any population. If every population had 1 in 10 people being a spell-using cleric, that would mean massive things for the health, and economy of...

It's ok, don't trouble yourself. To be honest, I'll probably get more mileage out of your story of your adventures than any official module. I appreciate the offer though. Like I said, it was just a neat idea I may use for inspiration when trying to come up with a low level adventure.

Hey, no matter where they got inspiration from. They still turned it into a neat story. I've never heard of Imagine Magazine...guess I should look it up. :) Thanks for sharing!

You see, you should have led with that! That’s much more interesting than how many butlers he rolled. At least in my opinion. I seriously like that idea. The thought that the dragon was empowered by the item, and that it had laid waste to the temple acquiring it. Makes a nice little...

D&D General JMISBEST's questions. Most of them about campaign ideas that either he or A GM he knows has and wants to know what people think

I’d probably wonder why they weren’t extinct :). More seriously, if they are notoriously weak, I’d wonder why killing one was noteworthy enough for someone to be awarded a domain for. Was there extenuating circumstances in this particular case? Was this dragon harder to kill than average...

D&D General JMISBEST's questions. Most of them about campaign ideas that either he or A GM he knows has and wants to know what people think

I’m not sure why you would think that, to be honest. I’d much rather read about your characters themselves. Their stories, their plans and friends and adventures. I started reading about your character and once I realized it was actually just a list of random numbers, I started skimming, and...

That’s too bad! Those sorts of details are always the most interesting bits about a character’s story, not so much how many servants they randomly rolled.

    Dragon Reflections #74

It’s not just you. When I was in high school (almost 40 years ago now…sigh), coming home from school to find out my Dragon magazine had come in the mail was one of the highlights of my month. I’m enjoying these retrospectives very much!

Heh...that's my assumption, and fear. If it wasn't for the free shipping, Prime would be in danger of losing me over this. Unless it's a lot less annoying than I think.

Streaming Services: Power Rankings Summer 2023, and What's Up With Paramount+

With Amazon, it's really rubbing me the wrong way. It's one thing to say "Here's an ad-tier if you would like to pay less", and another to say "You're getting ads unless you pay more". I don't know how ads in streaming shows are supposed to work anyway. In network shows, they planned for ads...
