    D&D 5E (2024) How D&D Beyond Will Handle Access To 2014 Rules

Essentially, with the compendium the only way to access our 2014 content, what we're left with on D&D Beyond is pdfs that we bought at hardcover prices. I doubt I'll ever spend another dime on D&D Beyond, even if we switch to the 2024 rules.

    D&D 5E (2024) How D&D Beyond Will Handle Access To 2014 Rules

I'm pretty sure that if the 2014 spells were going to appear in the spell listings, they would have said so in the "clarification" that was just posted.

WotC D&D Hiring New Game Designer Months After Firing Many

Hasbro's purchase of WotC was never meant to benefit WotC, it was for the benefit of WotC's owners. Many people who had been WotC from the early days got cash in exchange for their stock, and could now spend that money on whatever they wanted. If I sell you my car, it's not because I'm hoping...

    D&D 5E (2024) How D&D Beyond Will Handle Access To 2014 Rules

This sucks. Being able to quickly jump to the rules for a spell is the most useful feature of the D&D beyond character sheet.

D&D 5E (2024) Are single class martials still going to be viable in 2024?

Does 5.5 require a free hand for unarmed attacks? At least in 5e you can kick or headbutt.

    D&D 5E (2024) Shillelagh, Staff and PAM

Shillelagh changes the weapon's damage dice when you cast the spell. PAM changes the weapon's damage dice when you make the butt attack. Since the PAM change is the last change to happen, it will be the valid value at the time of the butt attack. There is no reason to think that just because a...

D&D General Interview with Chris Cocks on D&D AI, the OGL, and more

Regarding "Elysium" etc, part of the entire point of the OGL from WotC's position is that licensees willingly give up their right to use certain words in their product that are associated with D&D but not trademark-able. I don't see any reason why a court wouldn't enforce this agreement, since...

D&D 5E (2024) Motley Fool Prediction: New Dungeons & Dragons Edition Won't Help Hasbro Much

For gamers the question may sound silly, but stock market traders might think that if Hasbro is about to release a new version of a famous product, that should also bring in some significant income. So the Motley Fool article contains useful information for its target audience.

D&D General Interview with Chris Cocks on D&D AI, the OGL, and more

"Open" is not a legal term, it's a matter of opinion. You'll get very different answers about what's more "open" if you ask Sam Altman or Richard Stallman.

D&D General Interview with D&D VP Jess Lanzillo on Comicbook.com

I hope you're right, but from what I've seen big companies always go where the money is.

D&D General Interview with D&D VP Jess Lanzillo on Comicbook.com

If WotCs new digital tabletop turns out to be super successful and rakes in those MTX dollars, that will inevitably result in focus shifting to digital D&D, publishing books will become an afterthought.

D&D General Interview with Chris Cocks on D&D AI, the OGL, and more

If this is what Chris Cocks actually believes about the OGL, then it makes sense in context why he wanted to kill it. But if you start with wrong assumptions then your conclusion will inevitably be wrong as well. Sounds like he still doesn't get it, but at least he's smart enough to give us...

D&D General Short vs Long Rests and 5.24E

Or the players could try to actually achieve their objectives with the resources they have available, instead of blaming GM-Alice for not handing them the win when they are doing their best to lose.

D&D General Short vs Long Rests and 5.24E

In that case, the DM can just make every encounter deadly enough that the PCs have a good chance of losing, nova or no nova. If the players aren't interested in engaging with the story, then a campaign ending TPK is no great loss.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

Ah, the old "halfling cleric in a wheelbarrow" trick, that munchkins wanted to do in 2014 until Jeremy Crawford shut it down by declaring that having an effect moved on to a creature doesn't count as entering it, is now finally viable! More realistically, a cleric mounted on a fast horse with a...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Spell Changes

Or just do more damage and have more HP, that's the easiest thing to adjust. I don't think they're going to significantly adjust the hit bonuses. The AC gap between AC-optimized characters and others is just too large. Any creature that can reliably hit a Bladesinger with Shield up will hardly...

D&D 5E (2024) So what's the new Player's Handbook going for on eBay?

I'm sure some of the people buying the book on ebay are also intending to use it for their D&D sessions, since they are willing to pay a significant markup to get it a few weeks early.
