    D&D 5E (2024) Here's The New 2024 Player's Handbook Wizard Art

I can't see them doing individual art pieces for every wizard school. It would just take up too much space in the book.

D&D General The Double-Edged Sword: Is The New D&D Edition a Cash Grab in Disguise?

16 page thread about essentially nothing... Clickbait still works for sure ;)

D&D 5E (2024) In Interview with GamesRadar, Chris Perkins Discusses New Books

People, OK. But if a game designer refers to a Melee DPR class as a a Tank, then I'm concerned about the game. Did they just give the monk a new role, or is he simply clueless?

    D&D 5E (2024) Here's The New 2024 Player's Handbook Wizard Art

While D&D magic can potentially heal almost any injury, I don't see any spell in the rules that can permanently "fix" inborn traits, or the bodily effects of lifestyle and aging (outside of wish, which can potentially do anything at significant risk). I don't think the wizard the illustration...

D&D 5E (2024) Deborah Ann Woll and Matt Mercer consulted on the 2024 DMG.

the ones complaining here still managed to learn, even if it was hard at the time.

D&D 5E (2024) Deborah Ann Woll and Matt Mercer consulted on the 2024 DMG.

The ones that failed to learn probably gave up on RPGs, so we don't hear from them in the community.

D&D General No More Baldur's Gate From Larion: Team Is 'Elated'

I don't think wotc's business practices have much to do with Larian cancelling the BG3 DLC, it sounds more like the development just wasn't working out. The team would not have been "elated" at the decision if they were enjoying working on the project.

D&D General Is WotC's 5E D&D easy? Trust me this isn't what you think... maybe

Just remove death saves and have characters die when they hit 0 hp, and 5e will be almost as deadly as 2e.

WotC New D&D survey from WotC as part of the 50th anniversary year.

I'm kinda surprised that "I hate X" is an option in the survey. Normally that's a question corporate surveyors are reluctant to ask as even raising the possibility that a Customer could hate the Product is Verboten. Kinda feels like they're trying to get honest opinions from as many people as...

WotC Vecna Eve of Ruin: Everything You Need To Know

I get the impression that's it's not really milestone leveling that's the "problem", but that the published adventures have the milestones so close to each other that you level up much faster than you would if you were collecting XP. If you see "Levels 1-10" on an adventure and expect it to have...

    D&D 5E (2024) Do you plan to adopt D&D5.5One2024Redux?

I don't think you should count on this level of introspection and preparations from groups running published adventures. These are often new gamers jumping right into it.
  12. Sorcerers Apprentice

    D&D 5E (2024) Do you plan to adopt D&D5.5One2024Redux?

It is the fault of the game designers if they create features that are pointless for a very common style of play that they even promote with their adventure products.

D&D General D&D In An (American) Castle

The money you'd save on condoms would pay for this event and more! ;)

    D&D 5E (2024) Do you plan to adopt D&D5.5One2024Redux?

While some things matching that description do exist in Barovia, if you're playing CoS you'll run into them as part of the plot anyway, making the Sage background feature largely redundant. Which of course isn't all that different from playing any published adventure - if the party requires...

D&D General Who “owns” a PC after the player stops using them?

Maybe if you tell Bob that and ask nicely, he will agree to let you use his character.

D&D General Who “owns” a PC after the player stops using them?

Why not just accept that if Bob says that it's important to him that other people doesn't play his character, he means it, even if doesn't make sense to you? People get emotional about their creative works in ways they don't do about chairs or peanuts.

D&D General Who “owns” a PC after the player stops using them?

As a DM, you have infinite NPCs. If a player doesn't want you to use their ex-PC any further in the game, it generally costs you nothing to agree, no matter how weird you think such a request is.
  18. Sorcerers Apprentice

D&D General Who “owns” a PC after the player stops using them?

The campaign story is a shared creative work, and the player character is each player's main tool for input into the story. So even a player has left the campaign, the polite thing to do to if you want to respect their participation is to Honor their wishes for their character, and how they...

D&D 5E (2014) Guns and D&D - are we doing it wrong? An alternative

Not by much, swords, lances and spears (in the form of muskets with bayonets) were important military weapons well into the 19th century, and battles were often decided in melee. The real game changer was gunpowder artillery, not personal firearms.
