D&D 5E (2014) How do you handle randomly rolling for stats

That's why I said "approximate" :) As an aside to the aside, it is good and correct that the random method has a HIGHER average than the known static one. An example where this went wrong is where you, per the rules, can either roll randomly for hit points each level, or you can take the...

    D&D 5E (2024) 75 Feats -- not nearly enough

That sounds like a good argument for having these feats. However it also sounds like a good argument for placing these niche campaign feats in supplements rather than the core PHB...

D&D 5E (2014) How do you handle randomly rolling for stats

(This post started out as an aside to a reply to the following post but I decided there would be better chances of a discussion in a new thread) Whenever the DM offers you a choice of chargen method, ask yourself - what are my chances of "gaming the DM" :) For example, I don't think it is too...

Thanks. I think it's important context for your post.

    D&D 5E (2024) 75 Feats -- not nearly enough

Unless, of course, you play variant human. Which, of course, promptly loads of players went ahead and did. That extra feat easily outshone the racial benefits of 90% of races, in no small part due to the simple fact that extra feat slot can be filled with the optimal feat for your chosen...

    D&D 5E (2024) 75 Feats -- not nearly enough

I would look it like this: Before adding more feats, how about they balance the ones they've already got? As you say, from the perspective of perhaps not a minmaxer but at least someone not oblivious to power levels, this would easily count as adding 20-30 feats to the pool of acceptable...

    D&D 5E (2024) 75 Feats -- not nearly enough

Do you roll up stats randomly or use the starting array? (It's obviously one thing to be cool with your original stats if you roll great, but having access to those +2 ASIs is crucial to catching up if you started out with mediocre stats.)

    D&D 5E (2024) 75 Feats -- not nearly enough

You just characterized a decision you don't understand* as "bad". *) by your own testimony

    D&D 5E (2024) 75 Feats -- not nearly enough

Sorry but this - at least the thread title - comes across as incredibly unaware of the fact that for a sizeable slice of the customer base, more rules can be seen as a bad thing.

    [DCC] Carousing - Paramour Table

Other bits and pieces dumped here just because: Here's a random Sword & Sorcery theme table. Can't remember if I swiped it wholesale from Xoth or made tweaks :) Have your character roll a d20 during chargen: 1. oath or honor, 2. blood, 3. mammoth or elephant tusks, 4. legend or lie, 5. dying...

    [DCC] Carousing - Paramour Table

I found out with the following post, and quoted the public message given in #238. Perhaps the other posters in that thread know more "behind the scenes" stuff: https://www.enworld.org/threads/general-dcc-rpg-thread.696779/post-9335835 And thanks for the excellent campaign world!

Share Creative Ideas for Carousing Results

Here's my contribution to a thread named "Share Creative Ideas for Carousing Results": https://www.enworld.org/threads/dcc-carousing-paramour-table.704180/ It isn't particularly suited for WFRP4, but you might like it for your next Sword & Sorcery campaign :) PS. For more general "what to do"...

    [DCC] Carousing - Paramour Table

Let's create an example, in practice. Sue and her friends have just finished a brutal dungeon where they hauled away 200 gold each. She decides her character, Korgoth of Barberia, wants to spend his ill-gotten gains on, what else but the classic: Wine, women and song! The following assumes...

    [DCC] Carousing - Paramour Table

I've already mentioned the primary purpose of using this table - to give specific details about who you carouse with for the night (or week!). A secondary, but still important, purpose, is to supplant or even replace the need for handing out Luck points at the end of adventures. In other words...
