    Furniture of Ages Past

So, the other day I learned what a bourdaloue was. And it got me thinking. What other furniture, tools, or even clothes were used in a medieval society but we don't have around anymore? What else can I put in a room/drop as loot other than some fancy candlesticks and a silver chalice? Help...

Thoughts on online play (roll20, for example)

This right here. Trying to use the mouse to draw just took a long time. I recall he wasn't trying to do free hand stuff but use the rectangles and other shapes. Things weren't lining up and it took several delete/retries. I imagine that it would be something that would get easier with practice.

Thoughts on online play (roll20, for example)

While that's true, it felt like it took an exorbitant amount of time to set up some block houses and street. IIRC we all commented, the DM included, that using wet erase markers on a battle map would have been much faster.

Thoughts on online play (roll20, for example)

I've been using Roll20 for a while now, since my D&D group has moved/graduated. It's ... better than nothing. I still miss having people sitting around the table. But it has allowed me to keep playing with people that I truly enjoy gaming with. There is a lot of coding you can do, if you...

    Mithral Cost (help please)

In 3.5, the DMG lists Mithral at "Other Item: +500 gp / lb". That's probably the quickest and easiest way to price it. You have enough mithral to make another set of mithral full plate. Though if you can't find a skill smith or wait for it to be crafted, could you cast Make Whole or Mending...

    3 feats for my knight

I wouldn't worry too much about percentages and pushing your will save higher. You are always going to fail on a one. And unless the sword is going to scale in power, that DC is going to remain a static 20. Your will save will keep rising from levels, resistance bonuses, et cetera...

    3 feats for my knight

To build off of what Dandu said, you can use the feat Defensive Throw to trip your opponents when they miss you. Elusive Target would work, too, but that requires you to be moving about to get the trip attempt. If you're going to be tanking, Diverting Defense and Negate Power Attack, also...

    A question of personal style

Your options appear to be: 1) Hope the bard steps up his game. Doesn't sound like this may happen, though. 2) Retire the scout and come back as something else. A social rogue could work. Or something like an enchantment focused sorcerer. (Diplomacy? You mean Dominate Person, right?)...

    Growing/Maturing an animal

Chances are this isn't something you're going to be able to pull out of a supplement. Is there a druid grove nearby? Perhaps in exchange for favors, the druids will not only rear the animals for you but help train them? Perhaps the dire boards will be stronger than normal? I ran a two PC...

    Building a ranged combat character

Marbles are in the Arms and Equipment Guide. They force a DC 15 balance check, failure meaning you cannot move for 1 round. And I hate them with a burning passion. (A story for another day)

    Building a ranged combat character

I apologize for my meandering post. Is this character going to be around for a while? Is it a one-off? Allowed materials? Stats? If you're going with Swift Hunter, be sure to pick favored enemies that are typically immune to skirmish damage like undead and constructs. Are you going to...

    A Chaotic Good ... King?

Might as well hijack my own thread And here I did my best from asking Jacob Marley if all 285 rules of acquisition had to be adhered to in Johnsport....

    A Chaotic Good ... King?

An elected assembly would work. Being a pirate/smuggler I drew Articles of Agreement for my (NPC) crew. The first article was that That didn't quite work out in game though. I'd put things to a vote of the crew and the DM wanted us (The PCs) to decide. :P

    Looking for help min/maxing ranger

It would really help is if you can give us an idea on what source books are allowed. Classes Nothing wrong with going straight ranger. You won't get much from Many Shot though. Rogue gives you proficiency in Hand Crossbows and sneak attack. Scout, always a fun choice for archers but you...

    A Chaotic Good ... King?

Well, I'm not quite a king. In the campaign I'm in, the theocracy has fallen; civilization* is in ruins and the city's rulers are either dead or missing. My pirate/smuggler has slowly been rising in reputation among the townsfolk. With no one else willing or able to step up as a leader, this...

    Gaming on Halloween

In the past I've run Halloween themed adventures. I've done things with haunted buildings and try to really play up how their is something wrong at the location. Wolves in the forest, lots of mist/fog making it hard to see and trying to give the abandoned structure a "lived in" feeling. I've...

    Day of Discovery (Problem child)

Well, if you need to still deal with the will, I recommend using this.

    Day of Discovery (Problem child)

I like heroforge. It's a great tool. But that's just it. It's a tool. The understanding at my table has always been "Double check what Heroforge gives you!". His use of Toon sounds to me that he's coming from an MMO background. He's playing to win. Like in a MMO.

    Day of Discovery (Problem child)

I'm sorry, it's not Weapon Specialization (Ray) but Ranged / Touch Spell Specialization (CArc 82-83) and require the appropriate Weapon Focus and Caster Level 4. Those feats act, in all other ways, like Weapon Specialization.

    Day of Discovery (Problem child)

Twilight armor is also listed in the Book of Exalted Deeds and Player's Handbook 2. Are either of those allowed sources? Weapon Focus (Ray) is printed, or at least discussed, in Complete Arcane. I think you can even use that to pick up Weapon Specialization (Ray) or (Touch Spell). If he's...
