I hate to say I told you so...no, actually I don't. I told you so. Now is it OK to say the obvious: That WotC is dropping the ball on digital? Or to request PDFs without being accused of being entitled? Anyone? Anyone? ...Bueller?

Correct. I'll take a look at Dungeonscape once released -- who knows, maybe they'll wow me -- but I suspect there will be some sort of DRM and/or run-time check which makes it a non-starter (for me). Still looking forward to picking up the DMG in print, though.

I have an iPhone, iPad and Windows laptop. I'd be willing to take any of them to the table, but the iPad comes before the Windows laptop. Alas, when I come to a 5E table neither one does me any good...'cause no PDFs.

To those with a good grasp of technology, there are two kinds of companies...those which "get" digital, and those which do not. Unfortunately, WotC clearly remains one of the latter.

I don't think they have any special insight. I think they're just wrong. In fact, in the wake of the 4E PDF fiasco, I'd go so far as to call it hubris. But no biggie...there is no shortage of other PDFs to spend that money on. :cool:

As previously stated, I'd gladly pay full retail for PDFs (though I'm probably in the minority).

Everyone who wants to illegally download...will. At best, not selling PDFs might cause a 24-hour delay before a torrent goes up. Why not book some revenue from the people who want to do the right thing, whilst satisfying customers who want an electronic copy (without having to deal with DRM or...

Also received my MM from Amazon: My gargoyle is fine, but there is some obvious color weirdness on another page. Thankfully, it's not bad enough to bother replacing.

That's well and good...but it still suggests you have to view the files through their apps. Which means you're constrained to their chosen platforms, and you have to rely on ongoing support for things like new operating systems, etc. Further, if there is DRM involved, you'll likely be further...

I'd pay $30 -- heck, I'd pay $50 -- for a high-quality, bookmarked and searchable PDF. I bought the 4E PHB in PDF at or near full retail.

Yeah, I noticed that as well, but I was assuming it wasn't a deliberate misdirection. In any event, it appears I'll be going the scan route, which is greatly inconvenient for me, and generates zero incremental revenue for them. But hey, I'm sure they know best, because corporations don't make...

I was referring to Hasbro. Which, by any reasonable measure, is a big corporation. And I assure you, Hasbro has absolute control of what WotC does -- whether or not they choose to exercise that control is an entirely different question. But we're done here. Besides the...
