    Help Roleplaying a Wild Elf...

WOW, great stuff everyone! I'm in a bit of a similar situation. I'm playing a Wild Elf Druid originally from the Jungles of Chult in FR. I'm still trying to work out more details about his background and personality. We've only had a couple of playing sessions, so I haven't had much...

[Xbox] Aliens vs Predator: Extinction....Any Good ???

I am a disgustingly huge Aliens vs. Predator fan. I heard enough really bad things about this game to NOT buy it... and I'll buy almost anything with the AvsP brand name. Hope that clues you in. ;)

D&D 3.x [3.5] check my logic: a way to stand up from prone without being tripped again

If I cast a spell, and provoke an AoO... and the AoO disrupts my spell... I still lose my action. I still TRIED to cast a spell, even though it failed. Being tripped while standing up from prone does the same thing.

Questions about Planesacape 3e (or 3.5 whatever...)

I've never played Planescape... I stopped playing 2nd Edition before I discovered it. But Planescape: Torment (the Black Isle PC game) made me fall in love with the setting, and we do a bunch of planar traveling in some of our 3E D&D campaigns as a result. I haven't heard anything about a 3E...

    HP and Polymorph/Wildshape

I'm guessing "NO" is going to be the answer on this one. If Druids or Polymorphers get or lose hit points from polymorphing then you open up a huge bag of worms. You run into wacky things, like a Druid who Wildshapes into a Bear, and gets a ton of extra hit points from the CON bonus. Then, he...

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Alter Self

This makes it impossible for any Tiefling to use Alter Self as a disguise... if they can't just make themselves look HUMAN... it's not going to be much good to them to simply disguise themselves as other types of outsiders, when using the spell for its "disguise" purpose.

Standing up from prone and AoO

Option #3 would be correct. If you attack a Wizard when he casts a spell, he has to make a concentration check to finish the casting. He doesn't get to "try again" at casting the spell without losing his action. Thus, if you provoke an attack of opportunity by trying to stand, and are tripped...

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Alter Self

A Tiefling using Alter Self by these rules can only Alter Self into Outsiders? I don't have my books in front of me... don't Tieflings qualify as "Humanoids"? Wouldn't they then be able to Alter Self into any Humanoid?

AoO for standing up, any way around it?

We ran into this last night with one of our first sessions using Knockdown and Improved Trip. First of all, we do not allow the +4 to trip attacks while using Knockdown. Knockdown isn't a TRUE trip attack, thus you don't get the bonus. You're not tripping them, you're just hitting them really...

    D&D 3.x [3.5] DMG - Armor Special Abilities

If they're doing away with the +10 bonus cap, it seems silly that they still MENTION it on the same page as the table, along with the line that "Special abilites add to the enhancement bonus". What is the rationale for having some abilities add to the enhancment bonus, but others not? This...

    D&D 3.x [3.5] DMG - Armor Special Abilities

Okay, question. I can't find ANY information about this in the new books. A lot of the Armor Special Abilities do not have enhancement bonuses listed. This is GREAT for determining price. It's wonderful for new armor pricing, and I love it. HOWEVER... Armor is still maxed at a +10...

    Reach Weapons & AoO

It's a decent house rule... But personally, I think the fact that you have a reach weapon SHOULD deny your opponent ANY attacks of opportunity, including disarm and sunder attempts. It's simply one of the strengths of using a reach weapon.

    Knockdown

First of all, just to let you know, Knockdown and Improved Trip don't work together. You can't make an attack, use Knockdown to trip the opponent, and then use Improved Trip to perform an extra attack. Knockdown is a special attack that uses the Trip mechanic. It is not a TRUE trip attack...

    D&D 3.x [3.5]Weapon Finesse & Double Weapons

No Weapon Finesse for the "off-hand-end" of a double weapon. For the reason that Elder Basalisk said. It's only TREATED as a light weapon for TWF purposes. Plus what happens if you switch which side is your primary hand, and which side is your off hand?

    Hexes vs. Squares???

Unfortunately the 3.5 edition is increasingly using "squares" as units of measurement. If you prefer a hex-based system (which I think is better, personally) I doubt it would be THAT difficult to adapt. The only difficulty I can think of is certain area-effect spells look a bit better and...

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Scribing Scrolls Clarification

For a long time, I've considered creating some sort of house rule that would allow for half a day's research when the party is traveling from place to place. In my campaign, the party spends quite a bit of time traveling cross country. People need breaks to eat and rest. Horses need to stop...

D&D 3.x [3.5e] Movement, squares, facing, reach and squeezing

For horses, I think I almost would have prefered them "Crunch" the horse into a single 5' square than expand it. I mean... Horses aren't THAT much longer than 5', are they? Maybe they are a full 10' long, I dunno.

Surprise when the bad guys are faking it

The skeletons aren't "disguising" themselves as anything. They're just pretending to be dead. If it's not a Bluff check, it's a Perform check. However, since skeletons are clearly incapable of "Performing" in the traditional sense, Bluff works well enough.
