Iron DM 2011--All slots filled--LET'S PLAY!

Such a nice game, I would expect there wouldn't be any open positions. I can't hold myself from joining, I lack that kind of self control. Sign me up! :p:D

    Surprise within a round?

Ok I think maybe I am wrong. Flat-footness/losing your Dex to AC always confused me. I better let someone else reply to that. Standing from prone is move action though.

    Surprise within a round?

Listen Check ;) It won't be that hard, since I don't think the Pcs will move silently. Roll initiative at the beginning, and just ready every turn. Its way easier. Since he is still and behind full cover (if its full cover) the PCs wont hear or spot him; he will catch flat-footed anyone who...

    "He's beyond my healing ability..."

If there are clues he should be guarded, ok...if ''someone probably killed him just the next hour'' then wtf, how the assassin knew he would still be alive. I wouldn't throw any dice to the DM, but I would give him a look like that-->

    Surprise within a round?

Yes, you are right. It got me a while to get used to it. The you can't ready an action out of combat rule is an annoying one- but it is a fair one. There is no rule about when you should roll for initiative, since the players may just come close and not attack. But its like that, if you let the...

PC threatening PC. What to do?

Hmm...you are the DM. A cleric turned evil. The other cleric follows the evil cleric. The paladin lets be honest, should kill them both. Now, you can tell them to stop it, or split them, or let them kill each other. You can also stop playing with them. But why? If they want the in-game...

    Surprise within a round?

He should roll initiative in order to ready the action. Jackie will had a surprise hit- the ready action wasn't directed at him, and he acted on his turn having everyone flat footed. And unaware of him. The bandit will do this too. I am not saying he will start the combat though. He may even...

    Leadersihp and Thrallherder

I don't think that you can have both leadership and the tralls of thrallherder class. Other than that, I would consider the cohort of leadership a fanatic, and the followers friendly. I would consider the thrall dominated, and the believers charmed.

    Surprise within a round?

Sorry, but I am afraid you are wrong. Surprise round happens at the beginning of the combat, and it is only a standard action. The rogue wont join at the beginning of the battle, so he won't get a surprise round. -Either you will have him join the battle at the first round, and give only him a...

    Surprise within a round?

Someone who joins an ongoing battle plays first on the next round, if I recall correctly. You mean that it goes like this? -You play (lets assume you got the initiative -Enemies play -You play -Rogue pops up-Surprise round (Rogue rolls initiative for next round, and wins everyone) -Enemies...

    "He's beyond my healing ability..."

The problem isn't if you will just say ''The cure didn't work" or if you will say "The cure didn't work, because he was undead/was poisoned/was taking CON damage/didn't want to live" In both cases the PC will feel cheated. Once upon a time, my DM had every NPC we questioned to bit his tongue...

    The Art of Survival.

Ok. Every self respecting DM lets at least 2 options available to the players. If he is good more. You just have to do something totally unexpected, which isn't suicidal at the same time. You are at a crossroad, and you have to pick which way to go? Maybe there is a clue you missed, maybe...

    The Art of Survival.

If you are a non spellcaster, always have at least -One bludgeoning weapon -A cold iron one -A silver one -a potion of magic weapon -A potion of shield of faith -A smokestick -A potion of barkskin -A potion of invisibility -A potion of mage armor -A potion "Hide from undead" -A "Hide from...

    Archery Full Round Attack

According to this logic, shouldn't be wizards able to cast two spells instead of one? I mean, most lvl 0 spells do lower damage than a normal weapon would do...wouldn't it be fair to allow 2 attacks with level 0 spells at least? Or a wizard having cast chill touch shouldn't be able to have two...

    Birth control in D&D

This thread isn't about if babies are parasites, a curse, wanted or unwanted, if it is right or wrong to prevent pregnancy or if abortion is, if they pay you back later or not, or anything like that. It will probably be locked if it keeps on to that direction probably. Well I wouldn't care...

    Birth control in D&D

It depends on the point of view. A lawful good char should either have to stop adventuring, oh he should have to feel bad about letting a kid orphan. So if the player doesn't want to let his character go, then it is a negative consequence, having to roll an other char or changing alignment, or...

    Archery Full Round Attack

Hmm...ok It depends on how far away they are. Hand axe has a 10ft range, with -4 and -4 already in place. At 30 ft, both hand axes attack with -10, while a shortbow can shoot without any penalty at 60ft (which is also 10ft more than the max distance you can throw a hand axe) edit:Yeah I...

    Archery Full Round Attack

Ok. I just don't get it. Half the threads you open are about how to make some rules more realistic, even if it possibly hurts balance. The other half is how to change realistic rules because if we consider them as numbers it looks ok (balanced) to change them (and maybe they are). Both are...

    To kill a god...

I don't think he would. Because he is the God of Secrets. If he couldn't hold secrets from his minions he would be god of failed secrets :p. And probably he would think players more as minions than as equals. Probably the PCs get *into* his plan by some unpredictable event, or a stroke of...
