    D&D 5E (2014) Wildshape tactics

From the starter set, a Giant Spider is a Challenge 1 Beast, has 4d10 Hit Dice and is all around pretty horrid. I would happily use that as a Combat Form at level 2. The only other Beasts in the Starter set are the Stirge (can't use at low levels, it's flying) and Wolf (CR 1/4, 2d8 Hit Dice)...

First Draft of Knights of the Crown (Knight of Solamnia)

I just looked how 1e did it, which has nested classes, that I am not sure is a good solution either. Feats could be an option? Or maybe have triple choice class features at higher levels, basically like Warlock Pacts? So Something like this: Level 3: Squire Feature Level 7: Crown Feature...

What is intended doesn't actually matter, it is what you want it to do that counts.

First Draft of Knights of the Crown (Knight of Solamnia)

I take it this is intended as a straight conversion of the d10 Prestige Class as a Fighter Sub-class. Which I think it does a good job of. However, I am not sure the d20 rules were actually a good way to go about this. I am thinking you may be better of making a single Knight of Solamnia...

It's better than the Alpha version.

    Aldani (from Jungles of Chult)

I think the only bit that still worries me is that the Bugbear has 2d6 Surprise Attack, and I am not sure how much of a difference to Challenge that should make. I tend to assume none, because the average combat will not have a surprise round. But it still niggles me a bit.

D&D 5E (2014) And now for something completely useless...

Well for starters you can always use Medicine. It's not guaranteed you will always be somewhere you can buy a Healer's Kit, or indeed will always have one to hand. Secondly, we don't know the rules for Disease right now, it might be useful for that. Finally, Medicine pretty much cannot ever be...

D&D 5E (2014) How Many Magic Items Are You Planning On Handing Out?

It is hard to know, because we only have a handful of creature stats, but I suspect that nothing will have Immunity to non-magical weapons, and many of the things that have Resistance to Non-magical weapons (like Wraiths) will also have that Resistance bypassed by something non magical (such as...

D&D 5E (2014) Halfling rogue sniping from the the second rank

You know. I am starting to be a bit unclear what being 'Hidden' actually does for you. To get Advantage on an attack you need to be unseen by the target. Being Hidden is not actually required. 'When a creature can’t see you, you have advantage on attack rolls against it.' - Basic 0.1, page 73...

    D&D 5E (2014) Number of Attacks in 5E

The feature that gives extra attacks is called 'Extra Attack', Fighters in Basic get this at at level 5, 11 and 20. You can also get an extra attack by wielding a weapon in your off hand. The PHB will add more classes capable of making extra attacks, either by the 'Extra Attack' ability or by...

Rokugan RPG fantasy setting conversion for D&DNext (preliminary thoughts)

yeah, I am totally just throwing ideas out into the aether here. Last night I was thinking that Tea Ceremony should probably be a Tool Proficiency, but the way you describe it here makes me feel it should probably be a Feat. There is a slight feeling that making Etiquette a skill is just...

D&D 5E (2014) Halfling rogue sniping from the the second rank

Yes, you appear to be correct. I think part of the confusion is that being 'Hidden' is being confused with being unseen. From page 73 of Basic 0.1 'When you attack a target that you can’t see, you have disadvantage on the attack roll. This is true whether you’re guessing the target’s location...

    D&D 5E (2014) Atheism/Agnosticism in 5e?

True, but you are not going to stay first level for very long. My point is not so much that its hard to start as an Atheist, I just think its hard to stay one as exploration is a big part of the game, and as you travel beyond the material plane your pretty much going to find that the gods do...

Rokugan RPG fantasy setting conversion for D&DNext (preliminary thoughts)

I think a possible issue you may have in extending the skill system with some of these, is they basically become a 'Skills Tax' because they are not necessarily that useful but are required for certain concepts. So If I am generating a Crane Noble, obviously I need Etiquette and Tea Ceremony...

    Aldani (from Jungles of Chult)

Yeah. Basically they are described in Jungles of Chult as these really sophisticated lobster people that fight duels and are generally pretty civilized. And then Serpent Kingdoms says they are the exact same race as the primitive crab-men in the Fiend Folio, because, consistency. So I am having...
