D&D 5E (2014) Have we seen a list of backgrounds yet?

Urchin is the example background that Tika picks, so presumably is in, that's 10...

    D&D 5E (2014) Adv/Disadv - how often do you use?

I think it was Mearls that suggested that as a rule of thumb, anything like that should only give Advantage if you spent an action doing it.

    D&D 5E (2014) Confirmed and foreseen subclasses?

Sorcerer's get way more Sorcery Points (20 at level 20 rather than 12) Mountain Dwarves get racial Armour Proficiencies

D&D 5E (2014) Guiding Bolt too good for a level 1 cleric spell?

Really? Wow, we played that wrong a lot.

D&D 5E (2014) Guiding Bolt too good for a level 1 cleric spell?

While melee range is almost always a issue*, it does mean you don't suffer disadvantage when using it when you are in melee, so that's some benefit*. **look how I avoid saying disadvantage/advantage...

D&D 5E (2014) Guiding Bolt too good for a level 1 cleric spell?

I think it is now a 15' cube that you are touching at one side. You are not the center of the effect like in 4e.

D&D 5E (2014) The lack of "trap" choices in 5E

It is still possible that Resilient will not actually work the way it did in the Alpha.

D&D 5E (2014) Other PCs for the Starter Set?

I know a lot of UK secondary schools (at least) have D&D as lunchtime activity clubs. When I got a job in a RC school I was hoping to set one up, but one already existed which kind of nixed my plans.

D&D 5E (2014) Legends and Lore July 28: Keeping it Classy

Its worth noting that subclasses are not necessarily about delivering options, they are often about cutting options off. The more sub-classes a class has, the more the designers though that the class is over-powered if allowed to buy everything and started forcing you to only take a sub-sect of...

He was also probably the most skilled killer in the world. Rogue (Assassin), Noble Background, Use Expertise on the Deception Skill.

    D&D 5E (2014) Confirmed and foreseen subclasses?

I was told Darkness, but I don't know if that was from an official source or just a guess.

    D&D 5E (2014) It's the Sorcerer!

I think its fair to say that the Basic Rules have already shows that a lot of stuff has changed since the final play test packet.

    D&D 5E (2014) Switching from Pathfinder to 5E

Because skills are not saving throws? Its the same as why a Reflex save of +5 in 3.5 is not the same as a Acrobatics skill of +5.

    D&D 5E (2014) It's the Sorcerer!

Ah the example in the leaked Alpha? Yes, reading that example would seem to back up your interpretation. Although its still not 100% clear cut. If it is the intention that you are capped with low level spells, caster multi-classing is effectively going to be dead in water as an option again.

    D&D 5E (2014) It's the Sorcerer!

O.k., look at the rules for picking spells for the Wizard in the basic rules: 'You prepare the list of wizard spells that are available for you to cast. To do so, choose a number of wizard spells from your spellbook equal to your Intelligence modifier + your wizard level (minimum of one spell)...

    D&D 5E (2014) Switching from Pathfinder to 5E

Pretty much, the Universal Spell Slot table. So you don't end up being capped at low level spells.

    D&D 5E (2014) It's the Sorcerer!

That is not quite how it works. A first level bard gets 2 first level spells. But the next level they gain spells of any level which they have spell slots. If your already a 17th level sorcerer when you enter bard, that means at second level bard you can take 9th level spells.

    D&D 5E (2014) Player's Handbook Alpha *Spoilers*

It sounds much more impressive when you use the Thaumaturgy cantrip to beef up your introduction. 'I am Bob: *ELDRITCH KNIGHT!*. These are my companions. Suzie: *ASSASSIN!* and Gary: *BATTLE MASTER!*.'

How would you create War Fans?

I have player who is looking to run a character who wields a pair of steel fans in combat. Now, in an earlier play test it was suggested that the best way to handle cultural weapons was to just re-skin something on the weapon list. So Nunchaku was a mace, Tanto a dagger, Katana a long sword...
