Clarification - Ranger Favored Enemy Progression

You don't automatically gain a +2 to all your previous favored enemies at every 5th level. At 1st level, you gain one favored enemy at +2. (Example: Giants +2) At 5th level, you gain a second favored enemy, also at +2. In addition, you may choose to increase either one of your favored enemy...

Ranger and "other" mix, which class?

Barbarian is a great 2 level dip. Fast movement, Rage 1/day, Uncanny Dodge, d12 HD, 4+skills. No, it won't directly aid in archery, but if she's set on multiclassing, Barbarian isn't a bad choice.

Have you ever created a workable lawful evil or neutral evil country?

I've an Emperor who's rather like Havelock Vetinari, the patrician of Ankh-Morpork in Terry Pratchett's marvelous Discworld books. He's ruthless and evil, but under his rule Ankh-Morpork is thriving. I like the idea that Evil Ruler =/= Bad Ruler, and that empire in my campaign world plays that...

    Gnome Illusionist level 1

Unless your DM won't let you change, may I very much recommend you don't have Abjuration as one of your prohibited schools? That's dangerous ground you'll be treading in...

Suggestions for Lv 15 feat for a Wizard/Alienist

Alacritous Cogitation (Complete Mage) Leave one spell slot open and you may cast any spell you know of that level or lower. Casting time is increased to a full-round action. You may only do this once per day. This is good for most any wizard since it allows you to be Johnny-on-the-spot...

    Gnome Illusionist level 1

I always thought the Illusionist's strength was that he was able to distract the enemy with illusions so the other members of the party could take them apart piecemeal; illusion spells aren't as good as other schools at knocking someone out as quickly as possible. If you Silent Image a wall in...

    Gnome Illusionist level 1

That depends entirely too much on how many encounters per day, how often and easily you rest, which spells you prepare, how often you are forced into melee, etc. We can't give you a definitive answer because there is none. I will say Con, Arkhandus will say Int. Take your pick; the arguments...

    Gnome Illusionist level 1

You submit your character to level after level of +3 fort saves and 3hp cumulative to give yourself a 5% greater chance of affecting 1hd creatures with weak will saves. That's the choice you make.

    Gnome Illusionist level 1

This is a big assumption. I've never heard of getting a bonus spell for a level you can't cast. After a light browse of the SRD, I couldn't find language that specifically said otherwise, but I'd be surprised if there weren't. Summon Hypersmurf ;) If you don't get your higher-level bonus...

    Gnome Illusionist level 1

Higher Con. So you can survive. This will only matter when you get to level 5. From level 1 to 4 there will be no difference in the number of spell per day between Int 15 and Int 17. And at level 4 you can put the ability point into Int, so there still won't be a difference until level 7. So...

    After Swashbuckler . . .

Bard. Watch an Errol Flynn movie and tell me he doesn't have ranks in Perform. At the least, it wouldn't be "boring".

    Create an "Assassin"

Vampire Bard. Because the image of him playing Moonlight Sonata on the target's grand piano while his corpse lies bloodless on the marble is freaking awesome.

    confusing level 1 wizard dilemna

Oh, quit being dramatic and lyrical, you. Maybe so, but I'm the wizard: melee is something that happens to other people. And that's what's important. :D

    confusing level 1 wizard dilemna

Damnit! Horrid Wilting, Horrid Wilting! Heh. Still, two feats is a whole lot to spend to be accurate with a very few spells, and only when the enemy is in melee. Again, only if you don't allow the Orb spells; if you do that, why prepare anything else? ;)

    confusing level 1 wizard dilemna

Meh. Disintegrate them before they close to melee. As for Necromancy, I'd rather have Spell Focus and Greater Spell Focus for the price of Point Blank and Precise Shot. If the Orb spells are left in, you're quite right. Huh... I wonder why I didn't consider that as a possibility... ;)

    confusing level 1 wizard dilemna

If you're going to be an illusionist, go gnome. Do it along the lines of what Mistwell suggests, though you may consider Focused Specialist as well from the PHBII simply because Illusion is so flexible as to allow you to imitate magic from your banned schools. If you insist upon taking Point...

    confusing level 1 wizard dilemna

Granted. But neither with Silent Image (nor any of the Image spells, really), nor with Mirror Image will the +1 Illusion DC come in terribly handy. Yes, Image spells have a Will save if interacted with; a smart Illusionist simply has to figure a way to use the illusion such that they don't...
