Looking for Players for a 3.5 Eberron game in MD/VA

I'll be moving to a new place this week and the next in Alexandria; if you guys are gaming in MD, why don't I show for a session or two and see how the game goes. If things seem like they're going to work out well, I might could host a game. Of course, weekends will be full of painting and...

    How to meet gamers?

I'm also looking for group. I'm shortly moving to Alexandria; where in the DC area are you?

    Spell Hatred & 4e: A question !

They do have a lot of options, but they can't do them all at the same time. The spell slots they use for utility they aren't using for blast'em spells; the single hard-target spells they memorize is an area-effect spell they don't have for the horde attacking them. Every choice they make has an...

Directed Bull Rush from Shock Trooper

If you've ever played or watched much American football, think of an offensive lineman who runs straight at a linebacker and drive-blocks him out of the hole in one direction or other. That's pretty much a straight-line charge followed by a diagonal. It was a common drill when I played ball in...

Directed Bull Rush from Shock Trooper

Directed Bull Rush: Just move your character along with him. You push him one square left, you also go one square left. Domino Rush: Both maneuvers have the same triggering action, so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do both. You could bull rush someone diagonally into another enemy's...

    Spell Hatred & 4e: A question !

The Bard makes up for it. ;) You mean if they skirt around the intensional shackling of Wizards to their spellbook vis a vis their purse, you're right. Wizards will either have a swollen spellbook and few magical do-dads to speak of, or a modest spellbook and more knick-nacks. If the Wizard...

Looking for Players for a 3.5 Eberron game in MD/VA

Where all is the location in VA? I'm moving into my new place in Alexandria shortly. I'll soon be starting to coach learn-to-row classes on Saturday and Sunday from 9 to noon; when do you start playing?

    Fireball vs lightning bolt

While I agree with you, there is also this guy who doesn't exactly help Lightning Bolt's cause. ;)

    Fireball vs lightning bolt

You do not know the power of the Dark Side. Fireball may be more practical, but you've gotta go with the flavor of that sweet bolt of lightning.

How D&D Was Saved and Made It To 4e

This isn't exactly the acme of argumentation here, guys. Children on playgrounds can muster up similar "Yes-it-did! No-it-didn't!" arguments, with more passion as well. 4e will have been in development for 3 years by the summer of 08, and was scheduled to be released due to financial concerns...

    35ft reach???

May I invite you here to discuss? There is argument aplenty on brokenness and no need to involve another thread.

    35ft reach???

Ah. So that's the argument. Thanks for presenting it, but no thanks. When your weapon is long enough to reach 20 feet away and flexible enough to hit folks next to you, you're going to be able hit things in between; no Uncanny Valley for weapons, eh? Also, "Natural Reach" is a nice stand-in for...

How about a Tom Fulp beard? Advisory: Sound, Music, Amusing Knight-Beard Action

    35ft reach???

Huh. Never thought of it that way. I could see an argument from a mechanical balance standpoint, but I never did think the weapon overpowered so I don't really see the need.

    35ft reach???

... it doesn't? Chain, Spiked: A spiked chain has reach, so you can strike opponents 10 feet away with it. In addition, unlike most other weapons with reach, it can be used against an adjacent foe.

    35ft reach???

Not to sound rude, but what are you trying to do here? What purpose are you trying to serve by extending a character's reach? To show that it can be done, or to do something specific with that weapon with all that reach? A mental exercise, perhaps? Because if you simply want to attack someone...

Is the Spiked Chain Fighter really that Cheesy?

Oh certainly it's a sub-par weapon choice, but some folks have been calling it broken because it's too powerful. It's an interesting weapon to throw at your PCs every now and again, and for Fighters it gives them a venue for their myriad feats. It's nice for flavor and when you want to be...

Is the Spiked Chain Fighter really that Cheesy?

Assuming the person who designed the weapon didn't have the Spiked Manrikigusari in mind. Youi're right: the picture of the Spiked Chain in the PHB is silly. And maybe I play my games on smaller tables or with more people than you do, but we never have room to lay our books out open on the...

    Enchanter

The Mindbener is worth it for the first level only, when you get Telepathy. There are some other neat things, and it makes an adequate NPC enchanter villain, but the loss of 5 caster levels is a heavy price to pay. I don't have the book on me at the moment, but the Master Specialist from...

Is the Spiked Chain Fighter really that Cheesy?

Tetsubo comes down pretty hard on the Spiked Chain in particular, and the artwork seems to have as much, if not more, to do with his displeasure than the mechanics. Since at the gaming table the visuals I get come from my imagination and the DM's descriptions, I don't see why the PHB picture has...
