Monsters & More: An In-Depth Review of the 2025 D&D Monster Manual

Not really. I’m aware of the concept, it’s just not commonly used at least in my experience. To me it sounds silly, especially with the new “Boss” version. “Tough boss” sounds silly as a monster name.

Monsters & More: An In-Depth Review of the 2025 D&D Monster Manual

Yeah, but not a commonly used one. I’ve never heard someone call anyone “a tough” before, even in media. Hell, “mercenary” could work well, too. Way better than “tough,” IMO.

New Unearthed Arcana Released, With 8 New Forgotten Realms-Themed Subclasses

I was going to bring this up when I do my full review of the Purple Dragon Knight. I couldn’t care less about if it breaks Forgotten Realms lore. I don’t like the setting. What I do care about is broad usability in other settings. When I created my homebrew Dragon Rider subclass (based on the...

Monsters & More: An In-Depth Review of the 2025 D&D Monster Manual

That whole table is interesting and there are a few peculiar changes, but I want to say that “Tough” and “Tough Boss” are among the dumbest names possible to replace “thug.” IMO, “ruffian” or “bruiser” would have been much better.

D&D Adds Two New Books to 2025 Slate, Including New Eberron Book

I sure hope the Archivist is returning. IIRC, it was the most popular Artificer subclass. It was my favorite and they turned it into the most boring Wizard subclass (Order of the Scribes).

New Unearthed Arcana Released, With 8 New Forgotten Realms-Themed Subclasses

College of the Moon review Lore: While I know quite a bit about the Forgotten Realms, I admit I’m not familiar with the Moonshaes. If this archetype existed in previous editions, I guess it makes sense to bring it back, but the base archetype just isn’t doing anything for me. We already have a...

D&D Adds Two New Books to 2025 Slate, Including New Eberron Book

I’m pretty sure that was the Candlekeep book, which referred to the frog people (Grippli?) as “savage.”

D&D Adds Two New Books to 2025 Slate, Including New Eberron Book

I am looking forward to the new Eberron book the most. The other books do look interesting, but I don’t like the Forgotten Realms and don’t really need a bunch of Dragon adventures. And Eberron’s one of my favorite settings. Fingers crossed about the new Artificer. The UA had some good things...

D&D Adds Two New Books to 2025 Slate, Including New Eberron Book

Probably, but hopefully not. If they are fey, they need some racial trait that lets them ignore Detect Evil and Good and other abilities like that. The intrigue of changelings is mostly lost if wide-magic Eberronians can just cast a low level spell to reveal them. I’m in the minority, but I...

D&D 5E (2024) MM Reveal Videos: Giants Tuesday 28th and Celestials Thursay 30th

I imagine the Guardian Naga will become a Celestial along with the Sphinxes.

The Gith Are Now Aberrations in Dungeons & Dragons

In D&D, mind powers. Telepathy, telekinesis, astral projection. That kind of stuff. In my approach and setting, it’s basically lucid dreaming in a fictional world. Realizing your reality is merely the dream of a dead god and using your mind to manipulate the world around you. A weaker version...

The Gith Are Now Aberrations in Dungeons & Dragons

@Mind of tempest, you mentioned earlier that you dislike tying Psionics to the Far Realm, saying that WotC doesn’t do that to the other magic types. But they kind of do. Primal Magic is obviously connected to the Material Plane, Elemental Planes, and Feywild. Divine magic is generally tied to...

D&D 5E (2024) Monster manual Fey video up

They haven’t been “aggressively pushing it.” As I mentioned earlier, there was a severe lack of fey in early 5e. There’s still a lack of fey creatures, especially at high CRs. If you go to DnDBeyond’s monster search engine and you look for specifically Fey creatures, you’ll find that there are...

D&D 5E (2024) Monster manual Fey video up

Do you think the fact Tyranny of Dragons was published means that Dragons didn’t deserve Fizban’s? How about Storm King’s Thunder? Giants already got an adventure book, so they didn’t deserve a monster book in Bigby’s?

D&D 5E (2024) Monster manual Fey video up

I’m saying you’re tilting at windmills, Quixote. Worse. You’re seeking out farms on the chance that they might have a windmill, and thus a giant to fight. Hasbro has had WotC for over two and a half decades. They have probably meddled in quite a few of the decisions WotC made in 3.X, 4e, and...

D&D 5E (2024) Monster manual Fey video up

They are making new Fey monsters. The Archhag, a new Pixie and Satyr, a few more. You would know that if you actually watched the damn video instead of whining about it. The original Monster Manual was very lopsided in the amount of monsters in each creature type it had. Celestials, Fey, and...

D&D 5E (2024) Monster manual Fey video up

This is flat earther logic. "I have decided something must be true, and I cherrypick random details and decide that's evidence that it is true." Uh, yeah. There were like 7 Fey monsters in the original 5e Monster Manual (dryad, pixie, sprite, blink dog, sea and green hag, probably one or two...

D&D 5E (2024) Monster manual Fey video up

The lich in the original 5e Monster Manual had the Paralyzing Touch spell attack. However, it’s not a spell available to the PCs. Since you care about verisimilitude so much, whenever the first time you came across that obvious error, did you immediately homebrew a Paralyzing Touch spell for...

D&D 5E (2024) Monster manual Fey video up

Okay, the idea that there really is a single Tarrasque and when it stops rampaging on one planet it just teleports to another is an interesting idea. I’m not sure I’ll ever use it, but I’ll definitely keep it in mind for my my next high level or Spelljammer campaign.

D&D 5E (2024) Monster manual Fey video up

I was referring to how the original 5e Monster Manual discusses the Tarrasque, which it definitely describes as singular. It's called "the legendary tarrasque" and it's said that it's widely believed to be the only one in existence. I am aware of the Tarrasque Planet from Spelljammer and that...
