Gith were aberrations in the Planescape book, so it’s likely they will be in the Monster Manual. Thri-Kreen will probably be monstrosities, as they are in Spelljammer. I could see Lycanthropes becoming Monstrosities too. Merfolk I could see going several ways. Fey makes sense, as does elementals.

2025 Monster Manual to Introduce Male Versions of Hags, Medusas, and Dryads

I don’t have anything against turning creatures from mythology/folklore that were supposed to be one of a kind into the name of their entire species in D&D (Minotaurs, Goliaths, Tritons, et cetera). What bugs me about the name “Medusas” is that there was already a term for the type of creature...

2025 Monster Manual to Introduce Male Versions of Hags, Medusas, and Dryads

I do like that idea, but I use Incubu/Succubi as the energy vampire creatures in my games. They feed off of passion of any type. Lust, an artist’s passion for theirs creations, intense friendships, bloodlust, and more can all feed a Succubus. Having energy vampire hags would be a bit redundant...

D&D 5E (2024) The Dragons Video for the 2025 Monster Manual

I thought it was funny that they basically said “Chromatic Dragon Wyrmlings were too cute and players didn’t want to kill them.” Which is accurate in my experience.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Monster Manual (2025)

The opposite bugs me. When Fizban’s came out, I was annoyed that the Moonstone Dragon wasn’t a template. Also, “Moonstone” is a terrible name for fey dragons.

D&D 5E (2024) 2025 Monster Manual All You Need to Know video link is up.

That is not sufficient for most monsters I make. I do often base monster stat blocks off of an official one, but not always. And even when I do, it usually involves changing the CR, in which case it is necessary to consult the homebrewing monsters table. I recently made a monster that was a...

Another tangent, I just had the idea of basing Slaad off of African hairy frogs, aka “Wolverine Frogs.” They can break the bones in their fingers and pierce them through their skin to use as claws. I think fits well with Slaad, given how they reproduce through their claws. Plus the Wolverine...

So Much Art From the 2025 Monster Manual

Tangent, the name of Empyrean’s has confused me for a while. The Empyrean is a place, not a type of divine entity. A much more fitting name would be the Nephilim, because that’s basically what they are. Didn’t they used to be called Titans or something like that in previous editions?

    23. Same as in 2014. There’s also a CR 1 “Empyrean Iota,” which are those floating eyeball things. They’re not really a new type of Empyrean, more like living divine thoughts and memories.

2025 Monster Manual to Introduce Male Versions of Hags, Medusas, and Dryads

Ugh, I remember that. It was one of my several complaints with the book. There was seriously a ridiculous amount of them. I remember thinking that there were way too many of them and that it was a bit sexist. One would have sufficed and they should also be of any gender. Tangentially, soon...

2025 Monster Manual to Introduce Male Versions of Hags, Medusas, and Dryads

There a couple examples in the Theros book. They’re quite good, too. But they play up the elemental nature of them, as there are several types of nymphs in Theros, based on those from Greek mythology.

2025 Monster Manual to Introduce Male Versions of Hags, Medusas, and Dryads

Isn’t the main mechanical difference between the two that Gynosphinxes are Clerics and Androsphinxes are Wizards? Maybe they could just change the names to something like Arcanosphinx for the wizard one and, I don’t know, “Deosphinx” for the cleric one? And then let both sphinx be of any gender.
