    D&D 5E (2024) I have a Monster Manual. AMA!

Yeah, this confuses me. How does that work with them saying Monstrosities are now classic fantasy monsters and those that were created through magic? Are Thri-Kreen now unnatural creatures made by some wizard?

    D&D 5E (2024) I have a Monster Manual. AMA!

The Orcs and Lizardfolk of Eberron are very different from each other, even if most of them live in “swamps.” Q’barra is the Wild West, but as a swampy jungle, with some Lizardfolk serving a trapped Demon Overlord. The Shadow Marches is more of a tribal backwater, and the Shadow Marches’ Orcs...

    D&D 5E (2024) I have a Monster Manual. AMA!

They already had one. They live in swamps and don’t have a problem with eating other humanoids. To Lizardfolk, meat is meat. Orcs were more raiding cavemen that wanted to conquer the world for Gruumsh. I already used Orcs and Lizardfolk in pretty different ways, as did the official books.

    D&D 5E (2024) I have a Monster Manual. AMA!

Azer were already Elementals in 2014. Merfolk I kind of expected to be Fey, that’s probably how I’ll represent them in my games to separate them from the Tritons, who are already tied to the Elemental Plane of Water. Aarakocra kind of makes sense, given their connection to the Elemental Plane of...

    D&D 5E (2024) Fey Video Critique & Alternate Perspective

The player options were humanoids. The two Hobgoblin monster stat blocks were Fey.

Are Orcs in the Monster Manual? No and Yes.

    Yes. But they’re Fey now.

Dungeons & Dragons Teases New Campaign Settings

Historically speaking, was actually pretty difficult to tell until fairly recently. That’s not to say that it’s a better approach to have fuzzy borders or your preferences are wrong. Eberron is my second favorite setting and it has pretty clear borders between nations.

    D&D 5E (2024) New Celestials | 2024 Monster Manual | D&D

They explained that in the videos. There were barely any Celestials in the original 5e MM. They created some more completely new celestial monsters (Animal Lords, Iotas), but also switched other creatures into the category if they thought they fit (Nagas, Sphinxes, Giant Eagles, etc). Same story...

    They’re still called Celestials.

I have no idea what you’re even talking about at this point.

Any notable differences between the two versions?

New Unearthed Arcana Released, With 8 New Forgotten Realms-Themed Subclasses

Sorry, I just don’t find most Forgotten Realms lore interesting. Especially anything related to Mystra and the Weave. Any particular reason why some people seem to like Spellfire so much? Is it because of that book series?

New Unearthed Arcana Released, With 8 New Forgotten Realms-Themed Subclasses

Flavor overlap with other subclasses and I don't really like most of the abilities. I don't hate it with a passion, I just am not interested in it mechanically or thematically.

Why Dungeons & Dragons Isn't Putting Out a Campaign Book in 2025

WotC’s campaign books tend to be better gazetteers for specific locations than actually good full campaigns. Rime of the Frostmaiden and Descent into Avernus both kind of expect the players to run around a sandbox long enough that they discover the loosely connected overarching plotline. They...

The Gith Are Now Aberrations in Dungeons & Dragons

I know. I just thought they might errata Monsters of the Multiverse to turn the playable version into Aberations. I wanted them to do that.

New Unearthed Arcana Released, With 8 New Forgotten Realms-Themed Subclasses

Spellfire Review: Lore: I barely know about Spellfire (Laeral Silverhand has it, right?), and I don't really care. This subclass is at least easier to reflavor to other settings. I could see this being used for a Silver Flame Sorcerer in Eberron or a maybe a pyromancer subclass connected with...

Monsters & More: An In-Depth Review of the 2025 D&D Monster Manual

No. You were mostly complaining that there wasn’t a stat block called “Orc” anymore.

The Gith Are Now Aberrations in Dungeons & Dragons

Not many, and I didn’t like those either. When Tome of Foes came out, I complained that the Eladrin monsters were Fey and the subrace was humanoid. When Monsters of the Multiverse came out I complained that the Hobgoblin monsters were fey while the player option merely had fey ancestry.
